Are outsider crabs worth it?
are hermit crabs worth investing in? i went to petco yesterday to look at the costs and it come to just about 150 for everything they need. Should i spend that much.. will i be dissapointed whether i do? I held one and it seemed friendly. do they mind interaction with humans on a on a daily basis basis?
thanks for your help.
Hermit Crabs are the best. I had Hermit Crabs before and they didn't pinch at all. I would play beside my Hermit Crabs on a daily basis and my sister threw them down a couple times...she was upset...and they didn't pinch. You have to feed them a lot but not to much though because mine died while I be gone for a week. I feed them a lot and gave them their sponge for their marine and I loved every moment of having them.
Well I spent about $150 when I first got my hermit crabs. 4 years subsequently I have a much larger tank and more crabs added to the colony. They all are matchless they are far better then fish in terms of identity and how you can interact with them.
Some are more willing to be picked up then others. Right immediately they're eating and looking at me. but they're more interested in watching my cat. She sits and watches them and they go up to the chalice and look at her. one is so interested in watching people he takes food over to where on earth ever he can see you best so he can have a snack while he watches you.
so I think they are worth it. I hope to have them for decades to come.
Nah dont get a hermit crab. they r boring. get something resembling a hamster or a small snake, they r worth spending 150 dollars on. they live longer i think also.
Don't get one! They die really effortlessly if you don't get the right shells and if the shells are too big or too small. I get one a couple years ago and it pinched me when I picked it up. They aren't that fun, and in the wild the average hermit crab existence span is about 30 years, but when you have them as pets, they just live for a couple of months from my experience. You're not doing it much of a favor. I would grasp a nice hamster.
no, fish are much funner, but more time consuming
They are pretty easy going, and don't mind human interaction to much, although they don't live terrifically long. It helps if you put their cage contained by your bathroom, because the steam and humidity is good for them. Plus they are really easy to take strictness of.
Answers: That is road too much money for a hermit crab. You should only be spending between 30 and 50 dollars. Hermit crabs are $7.00. A cage is nearly $15.00 to 20.00. Sponges are about $1.50 each. Sand is about $5.00 to $7.00. A hose bowl is about $5.00 to $7.00. A log or something to climb on is about $3.00 to $6.00. Food is about $2.00. Extra shells are in the order of $1.50 or more each depending on size. Honestly I probably wouldn't buy them. They really don't do that much and they can be easy to kill whether you don't know what your doing.
from all i've heard nearly hermit crabs, it seemed worth it. look at some sites, learn almost them, and it will be worth it.
I owned 2 outsider crabs before and I would say they aren't worth it especially whether your paying that much for them.I think it is best if you invest that money in buying a nice aquarium for keeping tropical fish. It is form of hard to start out with an aquarium but once an aquarium is established, it is low maintanence. Hermit crabs are boring pets if you ask me. Fish are more involved and interesting in my opinion.
