Can you maintain Sheep In Town?
I was wondering if i could keep a pet sheep contained by town? can anyone help>
I really needed to have a baby lamb because they are so darn cute, but no, you need to enjoy at least 1 acre of property. Baby lambs turn into big sheep. Sorry, wish it was different.
You have need of to check your local ordinances. Most towns do not allow farm animals or they require you to have a certification. Some also place limits on how many animals per acre, etc. We had a big stink here a few years ago because someone moved 2 alpacas within as pets. The town forced them to move them because they were considered farm animals (as the ordinance was written/worded).
Answers: If you are in the UK then probably not. Most local councils have by-laws on the subject of keeping livestock in urban areas. If that isn't the case, then you want a holding number which registers any land you have with DEFRA, later you need movement papers, ear tags etc. Sorry but since foot and mouth keeping any cloven hoofed animal is a pretty complicated business.
