Changing ownership of microchipped pet?

I have adopted a dog from local pound. She is micro chipped by Home Again, but the information on the chip relays back to the pound. Anybody know whether the chip info can be changed to "adoptive parent"? Pound told me to change it over internet, but I can't seem to do this. I will call Home Again whether needed, just thought someone may have the answer
