How do I correctly dangle my guinea pig's dampen bottle on the shut within?
For some reason, my guinea pig has been have a problem lately with drinking. I don't think I'm hanging the wet bottle correctly, so it keeps falling when she drinks from it. I have a wired cage, and the wet bottle is hanging by a round metal band that I place the bottle in between, that connects to the side. Is here another way of hanging it so it won't keep falling?
Are you hanging it on the inside or external of the cage? It shouldn't be sliding out if it's being hung correctly, on the external of the cage with the "spout" poking into the cage.
I would use a bowl. Bacteria is not an issue if they are terracotta or metal and cleaned often. You can get ones that hang on the side of the coop so they can't be moved around or knocked over. Just change the water on a each day basis and wipe the bowl out. One or twice a week, clean with soap and sea or in the dishwasher.
I would be more worried about bacteria surrounded by a bottle as they can't be cleaned very well.
If there are vertical bar on the cage, put it thought them. The bottle won't be able to move for side to side.
Answers: Make certain its at the right height for the cute little guy first.
Then move the band to the top more..if that epicly fail...try zip ties, but make sure you can steal the bottle out to fill it, but also so it doesn't fall.
Are you disappearing the band near the top of the bottle? move it further down and the bottle shouldnt fall past its sell-by date.or get a new piece of wire that you can tie to the side of the pen..or just use a water bowl
