I would really similar to to own a monkey?

I really like animals and when Im older, I'd like to plain an animal shelter.
I've always, my WHOLE life wanted a monkey.

I deem it's the chimps that are really cool! but all of them are cute! <3
I live in California. So I doubt I could get one here. Where are you allowed to own monkeys?

I will be attending an animal school in college. What liscenses do I need?

Thanks so much. If you own any type of monkey or now anybody who has one, I'd love to hear their input.

P.S. I know how some monkeys are aggressive, but I would want it since it was a tiny babe-in-arms. Even if that doesnt work, what happens is always designed to be. =)
i think this is idyllic for you

what i recomend is something with a zoo i have done this before near monkeys after you go to collage or get someother certificate next to animals you may be able to discuss with this with the party in-charge that you really want to work with monkeys and you have wanted to your undamaged life but you cant take care of them as confidently as a hamster so you want a job specificly for monkeys or one that ivovles monkeys but watch out and do a lot of reserch because youll enjoy to cleen them clean around them feed them and occasionaly get bitten by them so net sure you commited to dooing this but youll have to go through profusely of work to get there but if your that committed nothings impossible (im a big fan if squrell monkeys myself)

p.s. hope you do well
God damn you're stupid!

You like to think you precision about animals, yet you want an animal that is expected to be wild and is likely to have be STOLEN from its mother- who is liable to have been killed, by the by- and own proven to be very, very aggressive even if you own had it since it was a 'tiny baby'.

Learn some respect.
Answers:    I'd love a monkey too :)
Firstly, chimpanzees are apes, not monkeys. It is implicit impossible to own a chimp as a pet as there are very few breeders, incredibly strict regulations regarding them, and they are enormously expensive. I have never seen one for less than $75,000. Monkeys are more commonly kept as pets, but I still don't devise you fully understand what it's like. You're planning on going to college? Does this mean you want a trade in the animal field? You can give that up. You cannot hold a job if you have monkeys. It's impossible to set off them both. You have to be with them 24/7. You can't have them at work. Also, do you realize what this will do to your social energy? I have 2 monkeys, and it is NOT easy. One of them is extremely protective of me. No one can touch me, talk to me, or even acquire near me. I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years and the monkeys STILL provide him a hard time. They don't bite him as much as they used to, but they still grunt and bark at him. Can you really deal next to that? And what do you mean "some" monkeys are aggressive? ALL monkeys are aggressive at adulthood. It doesn't matter whether you spay or neuter them. You're not going to curb their instinct.

Here is a bit of information for you that I have intuitively wrote. I ask that you PLEASE read it. I have nothing against people owning monkeys. I own 2 Capuchins. But, oodles people do not do the needed research before they purchase one. Many monkeys suffer and even die because of their owners lack of tuition! 98% of wild exotics (monkeys, large felines, etc.) die within the first 2 years! Please do not be one of those horrifying owners!

Firstly, they are not pets that live for 10 years. They are a LIFELONG commitment. They live 35-40+ years. (Age varies depending on what type on monkey.)

It depends a lot of the person. My Capuchins are extremely awfully hard work! They both bite, scratch, slap, pull pelt, and scream. ALL monkeys do. If someone tells you otherwise, it's a flat out lie. Some owners will try to detail you their monkeys are 'well behaved' because they don't want the laws on owning them to become any stricter. I won't lie, in attendance is no well behaved monkey. They all bite, gash, pull hair, and scream. It's majority for them. I personally have a great deal of tolerance for them. Their behaviors don't bother me. Yeah, they hurt me sometimes. I don't watchfulness. I have unconditional love for them. Are you going to have that kind of tolerance? Can you touch a biting, scratching animal for the next 40+ years of your life?

IF you can knob their behaviors, then bless you! Not many people can. Then you will own a lot of other things to consider. How about the money? Are you aware of how much these animals cost? Not only to buy, but to thinking for!

Capuchins can cost up to $11,000. And I know you may not like hearing this, but you CANNOT keep only one monkey. You will need to purchase 2 of them. It'll cost you around $20,000. (For Capuchins)Many owners attempt to keep just one monkey. They muse human companionship is enough. I swear to you, it's not! Those particular monkeys will become 100 times more aggressive and attack you every chance they bring. They will also become depressed and pace back and forth for hours at a time, scratch until their spike falls out, and even chew on their own limbs to inflict pain. They suffer from extreme depression. So, PLEASE unless you can afford 2 monkeys, don't buy just 1. It will not work out!

Also, you will involve an outdoor habitat. They are not too costly, but a good habitat will probably run you at a couple thousand dollars. If you are actually planning on getting a monkey, I can give you some great caging philosophy. You are going to need one! Trust me, monkeys cannot be cooped up in a house all the time. In reality, they would eventually die without UV light. They need sunshine and a nice place where on earth they can play, hop, jump, and swing like a monkey should!

Also, vet care is just about 8 times what dog vet care costs. You will be paying around $1,000 (give or take some) every year for your annual vet visit. That certain adds up for 2 monkeys over 40 years!

I do support ownership, but only for extremely educated and responsible owners. I hold seen many terrible owners back who did not even know what kind of monkey they had. It's very downcast when you see things like that. Those kinds of culture should not be allowed 100 feet near animals if you ask me. For the plus side, breeding them contained by captivity does actually help with propagation of definite species. I'll put it like this. I do support ownership, but I am tired of seeing stupid owners! You should only own them whether you REALLY know how to give them the absolute best of care and mental stimulation. You will call for to know all about their care, diet, housing, enrichment, behavior, and husbandry. Not to mention you hold a lot of legal homework to do! If you have any question regarding information about them, feel free to email me!
