Is there a limit to the age that a rabbit can be neutered? I'm moving to canberra subsequent year and I want to get my male rabbit fixed so that I can keep him near my female rabbit..hes about 3 and a half years elderly.is that too old to get him fixed?
i don't think so
This should be a question to ask your vet. He would know best.
I would guess that it wouldn't be a problem. They neuter dogs and cats at all ages. The just thing you should be aware of is the time after the neuter that it takes for the operation to be completely powerful. I have a friend who got her male cat neuter at 10months and he went on to father a litter of kittens even after being separated for a week after the operation. Apparently it takes 6 weeks for the sperm to be cleared out of a cat's system. Just double check on that formerly putting them together after the operation.
Answers: 3 years is not too old. However, you should ask your vet almost getting blood work done to make sure he can handle the surgery. You also obligation to use a rabbit savvy vet (not just a dog/cat vet). They have the experience and knowledge to promise with rabbits.
Male rabbits can get a female pregnant up to 6 weeks after bring neuter. You will have to keep him away form you feminine for that time. If you get the female spayed too, you can put them together after they have heal form the surgery.
