Pregnant Dwarf Bunny! Y'adjectives please back?
my dwarf doe, Riley was playing in her garden area when Thumper[my subsequent door neighbors rabbit] came through the gate & mounted Riley!
I got him stale her w/o viloence, but it seems now like she's pregnant. im really scrared bcz i dont knw wht too expect. hes much, much bigger than her [mini-rex] & im afraid of the outcome.what do i do next?
if there is a arbitrariness she is pregnant, here's some advice (my family raised rabbits for a couple yrs) (forgive me, i do forget what the gestation pd is) besides, yes she will pull out her chest hair to make a nest, but be certain you provide her with straw or newspaper to add into the nest. don't verbs, she will take care of this by herself. wether her cage is indoors or outdoors, please provide her privacy around the nest. box it surrounded by if you can, with an entrance for her to go within and out. plenty of feed and water, with a small saucer of reheat white bread and milk once a day. helps to nourish the babies. once they are born, DON'T PICK THEM UP until they open to come out of the nesting area by themselves. (if any are born sick or dead, she will take aid of them-yes eat them) the babies are born blind but you'll be very surprised how fast they grow and you'll be capable of play with them faster than you think. Enjoy your babies, they are lots of fun.
Well if she is pregnant, she'll make a nest and rip out fur from her chest to use for the nest. There's no mode to get an abortion, and it would be mean if you kill the baby bunnies, and the mother could die of depression if you did, your just going to own to live on through the pregnancy. Supply her with plenty of food and water. If you can't keep the tot bunnies, when they're 12 weeks old you can give them up for adoption. Try not to pick your pregnant bunny up too much by the stomach or it could damage the babies inside her tummy. But near is a small possibility that shes not pregnant though.
Go to the vet...what are we supposed to do??
He may not have impregnate her , if you are worried go to a vet.
Answers: Hi.I've been raising and showing rabbits for 10 years. You said you get him off of her, did he grunt and fall over before that? I would speak that with you geting him off of her quickly and that I'm assuming this would be her first litter that in that is a very small chance that she is pregnant. If she's older than a year old-fashioned that lowers the chances even more. Palpating is how you can tell if she's pregnant, but it is pretty difficult and take practice. So it'd be best to just go ahead and treat the situation as if she is pregnant. A rabbit's gestation time (length of time she is pregnant) is 28-32 days, so a couple days before she is due she'll need a nest box. The kind that I find to be the best are at Tractor Supply and are metal near a removable wood floor (for cleaning), if there's not a TSC around you then you can try a nurture mill or go to the American Rabbit Breeders Association website, then to links and look up some suppliers websites. But then when you put the nest box contained by with her, cover the bottom of the box with about 2 inches of sawdust (pine, not cedar) and next put a big handful of straw (not hay, hay is what they eat and straw is bedding) inside and then a couple more handfuls just surrounded by her cage outside of the box so she can carry within some more to build her nest if she wants to. They do best if the nouns around them is calm and quiet and they typically give birth at dark. Once she has them you'll need to pull her out of the coop and put her somewhere safe while you check on the babies. You need to count them and remove any dead kit (baby rabbits). Trust me, it is completely untrue that your scent on them will affect how she takes care of them at adjectives. But it is best not to handle them too much for the first couple weeks, just check on each one once or twice a daylight. The sawdust and any wet or dirty straw will need to be replaced every 1-2 weeks. And when the babies are about two weeks dated they'll start to open their eyes, if it looks like any of them are have trouble then you have to help them along (they could budge permanantly blind if left closed for too long). Just take a heat, wet wash cloth or cotton ball and considerately rub their eye lids open. After that if they attain crusty and stuck shut again, then just put open them again and put some emolument on their eyes (either one from a feed mill or TSC or neosporin works). They should start leaving their nestbox not too long after this happens and will start nibble at the mothers feed. A good quality timothy pellet nurture from TSC or a feed mill (not a pet store or grocery store brand as you can never tell how long they have be sitting on a shelf or what is in them exactly) with 17% crude protein is best for the duration of her pregnancy and until the babies are weaned. Once the babies start eating they should adjectives be free fed. Then they can be weaned at 6-8 weeks and continue on the 17% protein diet until they are about 6 months out-of-date, after that a 15-16% crude protein pellet is best for pet rabbits. Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me with more question you may have.
