Pros and cons of spaying my rabbit?
Shes 10 months old, and is suddenly acting vicious
will this help with her grotesque behavoir all of a sudden?
Answers: Yes, spaying almost always help immensely with aggression, especially if she be not aggressive prior to puberty.
Pros: Doubles their lifespan, on average, due to a very high rate of reproductive cancer (85% of females die of it by the age of 5). Helps (a lot) to curb territorial aggression. Eliminates false pregnancies (and real ones, of course). Helps beside litter box habits (reduces/eliminates territorial marking, which females will also often do)
Cons: Small surgical risk associated next to anesthesia. I have had 50+ rabbits altered and never had a surgical complication- when done by an experienced rabbit vet, complications would be moderately rare.
I agree with Oergano and also would like to join that most rabbits are much more affectionate after being spayed/neutered, as well. Once the hormones are gone (it may take a couple weeks) she should tone down a bit, and her aggressive demeanour should abate.
Good luck with your bunny!!
