Answers:    You can purchase a few pieces of polar fleece from the yard goods store and line the cage with it. Every morning, carefully pull up the fleece and shake it out outdoors to dispose of the "pellets." Then, throw that one within the wash and replace it with the next piece. Repeat the subsequent day, and replace the dirty one with the one you washed. This is what I did when I have guinea pigs. :)
i had guinea pigs for years and although i used the cedar shavings for bedding i mixed it with shredded newspaper.this cut down on the cost like mad. nothing will make it not stink so when it gets drizzling you just have to change it. i have so many i had them in laundry baskets which worked economically b/c i could just take the containers outside and hose them down. whether your containers are having an odor just rinse with baking soda and hose after cleaning- 1/2 cup to 2 quarts water.
