Which Spaniel for a own flesh and blood pet?
Have been thinking of getting a dog for a while now, we really would like a chocolate coloured spaniel. We do not want too big a dog so which spaniel is suitable as a nearest and dearest pet?
A Spaniel is a working dog, and has giant exercise needs, and also have been overbred, resulting contained by various behaviour/temperament disorders. i would not make this my first choice as a family pet. I own a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, one of only two British breeds, were suitability as a family pet is a breed standard. ( Check the Breed websites for details, access via wiki, whether necc) My stafford is well trained, very gentle iwth my children, within fact my 7 year old trains her to sit, paw etc for treats. they also take her over an agility course surrounded by my garden. Staffords are loyal, loving and in the right hands excellent family pets. They do not other like other dogs, but that is not a problem we have.
virtuous luck, and don't rush into buying a dog, the recue centers are full enough, check out Many Tears rescue, and stafford rescue sites for details.
we got our dog from east Midlands stafford Rescue, and adore her

Cavaliers and Cockers are good with kids, impeccable size for a smaller house or an apartment, and stay lively and playful well into old age. (my cocker was still chasing tennis ball in the back yard at 15)
Cockers can try-out your patience when training them. Just be firm, kind and consistent, and they will learn who is the boss.
And PLEASE carry your dog from a rescue group!
There are so many abandoned and unwanted pets that need homes. Breed rescue groups ensure the dogs are housebroken, spayed or neuter, up to date on vaccines, medical issues addressed, and tested for aggression or behavioral problems. They will find you a dog with the best personality and temperament for your domestic.
EDIT: While they have great energy and personalities, I would avoid getting a Sussex spaniel whether you have young children (under 10). Sussex puppies are slow growers, take longer to housebreak, are VERY fragile, and VERY, VERY expensive.
Answers: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are the best for families :-)

I love spaniels - although their not the perfect pet for everyone!
The Cavalier King Charles is probably the best spaniel for the average domestic, as they tend to be less manic than most of the others, as well as being smaller.
Cockers are brilliant but a bit more bouncy and need more exercise. (my personal favourite of the spaniels). American cockers are slightly smaller a little smaller number nuts. Both types tend to need more grooming than other spaniels.
Springers are just that - the canine version of Tigger! Lovely dogs and can generate great pets - if you enjoy lots of exercise and don't mind a dog i.e. bouncing around all over the place! They are one of the larger spaniels though.
Of course there are other breeds of spaniel you could also consider.
The Clumber is a more solidly built dog and is a bit less bouncy.
Field and Sussex spaniels are smaller number common as pets, they tend to be kpet mainly as working gundogs. However, they do come in the brown colour you approaching (although obviously you shouldn't choose a breed based purely on colour!)
I would personally propose either a Cavalier or a cocker. It wuopld be worthwhile doing some research into each breed and trying to meet a few so you can work out which is best for you.
Please consider adopt a rescue dog - both of these breeds are popular pets so frequently turn up in rescues (you can check out specific breed rescues too).
If you must buy a puppy please, please make sure you find a truly respsonsible breeder who raise the pups in their home (not a kennel) and has done adjectives the relevent health tests.

Fill this on, and it will come up with your ideal dog to suit you lifestyle and family. honest luck.
If you want an all brown spaniel this would in general be the field spaniel, but they dont make suitable pet dogs really. You should consider a cavalier, a king charles spaniel or possibly a cocker. All of these make dutiful, loyal family pets. Make sure you go to a rescue or a REPUTABLE breeder who have tested their dogs for health problems and has gentle, capably behaved dogs.
A good dog is never a bad colour ;)
I enjoy a pedigree cocker spaniel. He is gorgeous but has always been aggressive and a short time unpredictable, despite training and seeing animal behaviourists, etc. It's a temperement problem caused by too much in-breeding.
Anyway, my point is that after having had this dog (whom I adore despite man difficult) is that I now know the most important thing to consider when getting a dog is its temperement!! You should rob the whole familly to a rescue centre and pick a dog there. At lowest then you will already have some idea of the dogs' self-esteem. I wouldn't recommend getting a pedigree dog, but that's only because of my 1 bad experience.
I really don't propose a springer - I absolutely adore them, but their name has a root! They will tear your place apart - really best for outside kennelled gun dogs
Cockers are gorg - still hectic. King Charles probably best if you want a small dog. I'd step with a Cocker but be warned - they are just as cracked as springers, just a bit smaller.
Springer spaniel are brilliant dogs I had one and I ADORED her. She was SOO clever and loyal. They are not prone to destroying anything more than any other mundane pup. The only down side is they shed their hair at certain times of the year, but they are worth the hoovering
COCKER SPANIEL!! my grandma have been breeding cocker spaniels all her life and have judged at many shows. i have be to her house many times and all her cockers are lovable and have never showed signs of viciousness they are really lovable and i would recommend them to anyone.

A English Springer Spaniel, is a great kith and kin dog.
I dont recommend Cocker, because they are known for peeing with excitment, and being grumpy near kids.
A Clumber Spaniel is a cute breed.
There are several breeds of spaniels your best bet is to look in the kennel club site and she which one you like the look at. Then contract some apt breeders of the breeds you like and ask question about here breed to see if it would suit your life style and what you want in a dog.
English springer spaniels are the best dogs I ever had. I would never pick a different breed. They are loving, intelligent, energetic, and noble.
