I didn't think Hedgehogs were exotics... well I guess within some states they might consider them. I don't purposely own exotics. So I only foster them for a short time till a proper sanctuary is found. I have have many ranging from a Monkey to a Tiger.
I keep reptiles (tortoises and geckos from 1994-now, along with snakes in the behind 90s) which tend to be classed as exotics, and at the larger end of the scale, we have a llama and an alpaca, who are relatively strange.

We actually have a hobby farm and our other pets include 1 sheep, 2 miniature donkeys, a miniature horse, 4 guinea-fowl, 2 pea-fowl, 25 chickens (various breeds), 5 cats (3 adults, 2 kittens) 1 dog, 2 hamsters and nearly a dozen guppies.
I have a Ferret name Zorro =)
Capuchin monkeys, Bennett Wallabies, Coatimundi, squirrels, and manyyyy more.

They are not the right pets for everyone though. They can be wild and precarious. It takes a lot of tolerance.

i have 8 ferrets 5 males and 3 females
Answers:    I own a hedgehog named Idgie-Hans.

I don't think ferrets are exotic since they've be domesticated for a few thousand years. Hedgehogs have not been pets for too long, about 20 years or so, so I suppose you could call upon them exotic.

I wonder how many generations removed from the wild an animal have to be before it is considered "domesticated".

Cats, dogs, ferrets, and rabbits have be domesticated for millennia, but rats, hedgehogs, are far more recent. Even parrots, though kept as pets for many centuries, were simply in recent decades bred in captivity. Prior to 1970s they were mostly wild-caught and so be not domesticated.
