Why aren't ferret court within CA?
Thats so stupid! Why doesn't anyone like try to change it?

Ferrets are excessive breeders and breed like batty. They don't want a lazy owner to breed ferrets and then consent to the ferrets go in the uninhibited because they destroy CA's wildlife and ecosystem. I think it is very silly also. People have tried to change it ( I am one of them) but you can't change it.
It annoys me too.
I heard that it was because the black footed ferret (which is apparantly native to CA?) is an dying out species.. that specie is illegal to keep as a pet.
Apparantly CA law cannot relate the difference between a domestic ferret and the black footed.
Why should they be? They are like any other pet. If they do something wrong, its the owners knock.
Rats are allowed as pets, as are dogs and cats. Why not ferrets?
If you have a neighbor with a ferret you can`t stand, or something, blame the owner.
Answers: Unfortunately, some ethnic group are very misinformed about ferrets and because of that some places hold decided to ban them (not just CA - HI, DC, and NYC to dub a few other places where they are banned).
First, there's the threat of rabies. This is ridiculous because ferrets pose no more of a rabies threat than dogs. Ferrets also seem to enjoy a bit of an immunity to rabies and, even if they were to carry rabies, they are usually affected with "dumb" rabies, not the furious considerate.
The other fear is that ferrets will get out, create feral colonies, wreak havoc on wildlife. This can't appear for a couple reasons - 1. The majority of ferrets sold in the US hold already been neutered. It's kind of knotty to produce large colonies when they can't even reproduce! and 2. Ferrets are so heavily domesticated that they NEED humans to survive. The majority of them have lost their untaught hunting instincts and would eventually starve to death. Not to mention, most places across the US have larger predators out there that would put away a ferret. So, even if a ferret did escape, they'd have little chance to become a threat to other wildlife and most would be inert within a week.
Actually, there are groups that have rally in the past in an challenge to legalize them. It's just not something that can happen over darkness though. Here's a couple links you can check out. They talk about efforts made contained by the past and will also mention any upcoming rallies.

Because, animal rights groups will do anything to prohibit pets.. Most animal rights supporters live in California or NY. They basically made up a bunch of stuff about ferret to get them banned.. Don't worry, they're trying to rejection dogs too starting with pit bulls. They still don't know how they're going to kill off the cats, but, I'm certain they'll think of something. .
Basically, they just buy a bunch of petition signatures online with their loads of donations (PETA) and form up something like "ferrets will overpopulate California" even though MOST ferrets are sold already neuter..
There are a couple groups trying to legalize them, but, no luck so far.. PETA has a lot more money after small groups trying to make them legal again..
so people can have vultures and alligators but no little cut ferret that's weird!!
Possible duplicate reason they are illegal in Hawaii, population are paranoid about rabies getting around.
