Another beard dragon examine?
do i NEED to be putting calcium on my crickets for my bearded dragon, it seems like when i put the calcium i hold (reptocal) all my crickets die, someone tell me a good calcium supplement for my crickets
Yes you do need to put it on, it's so your beardie can stay heathly
I avoided having to dust my crickets by using calcium carbonate sand in my dragon's round up. He usually gets a mouthful of sand anyways when he dives for crickets (clumsy little guy). You can find this sand at pretty much any pet store, I believe one brand is called Calci-Sand. There are also vitamin sprays you can buy to spray on the veggies he eat to make them more nutritious. So the answer is, there are other ways of getting calcium into your dragon's diet. :)
Answers: They will die! you just have to dust them a few mins before you feed them to your beardie! put the elected crickets in a sandwich bag dust and then serve. Hope this help, good luck!
Thats what happens to my crickets also. I of late get a separate ziploc bag and dust them with calcium right in the past I feed my beardie, ONCE A WEEK. The first time i bought crickets i put the calcium on all of them at once and they died in in the region of 3 days. They should stay alive for at least a week. Hope this helps!
i use neutrobal but i genrally only use it 2 - 3 times a week, you might find useful if you lace sum lettuce or cabbage beside calcium and feed it to ur crickets
you don't need calcium on them at all. We hold had a bearded dragon for years, lots of light boil, uv, crickets and leafy greens and he'll be great!
Yes, that will happen whether the supplement is on the crickets for too long. What you need to do is select the crickets who are going to be fed and dust them just prior to that, or merely dust the salad instead. It won't hurt the salad any to dust it, and your Beardie will probably ingest more supplements because the salad doesn't jump around and shake it off.
every couple of feedings I dip the locausts or crickets head into the calcium, he is very good..
put the powder on just prior to feed. otherwise flukers makes a calcium cricket diet. A suggestion I have is forget crickets and order some ginger spotted roaches. They are much better for them and you can breed them easily.
