Baby Beardie on sand?

I dont really like the carpet for my beardie tank. Is within any other safe substrate for my baby beardie?
If your beardie is a baby, keep it on paper towels and here's why. Baby beardies are vastly clumsy when it comes to catching prey. They will often dive, miss and get a mouth full of substrate. Baby beardies cannot digest sand substrates as well as adults, so it's best to place them printed towel. I know it's unattractive, but it can be replaced in a few months and he will grow pretty quickly. When he's bigger, consistency free to put screened play sand in there. You can go and get a 50lb bag at Home Depot for like $3. Avoid other substrates such as calci sand and coconut husk and of course larger substrates as ably. I've had many beardies and I've always used play sand for adults lacking problems.
Well, please do not use sand as that will single impact and kill your bearded dragon, but here are some suggestions:
While young, it is best to maintain your baby Bearded Dragons on kitchen towel to prevent compaction of the substrate, this can be fatal. When older you can use a slate or lino, in attendance are many different products on the market. You should also place cork bark branches and rocks for your Bearded Dragon to climb on. Reptile mat is a good option.

Hope this helps and right luck.

anything is better than loose substrates such as sand, calci sand, ground walnut etc, if u really REALLY must use sand the safest is childrens play sand (ignore calci sand completely its not digestable and infact is worse than other types or sand and ground walnut is the same)
It is usally best to use shelf liner or repticarpet until your dragon has honed his food catching skills and can catch his food with out lost too often.

At that point, partiucalte substrates can be used safely. As point out, calci sand, vita sand and crushed walnuts are all immensely dangerous for dragons. Despite what the package says, they are not digestable and can do impactions or torn intestional linings.

My favorite substrate is Bed A Beast. It looks very natural, is not dusty and pass through the system if ingested. My second choice is play sand. It's heavy and dusty, but it looks nice and holds warmness well.
