Ball Python- shed is nearly total but eyes still look a bit stupid?
This is Zoot Suit's first slough. It is almost complete but her eyes still look a bit dull. Should I present it a little more time or do something (and WHAT) about the eyes? I know that retained eye caps can be a TRUE problem. Thanks!
Hi I think it's I don`t know a case of PKS!
I would take him to the vet just to make sure nil is wrong with him and tell them what you just told us and they can anaylis him and get him better.
Hope this helps and good luck
:)
Answers: Once he is finished shedding, check the shed skin for the eye caps and the tip of the tail (it can actually cause amputation).
For problems as partial sheds or retained eye cap
1) bring the humidity up
2) misting
3) a water dish he can submerge in the cage whether possible
4) get a lidded rubber-maid type container, fill it half process with warm, damp towels, and put your snake within there for 20-40 minutes(same idea as the humidity box)
5) take a towel using mineral grease or warm water and brush with the scales, some times some entry a little rougher like a loofah. if here is a problem with the eye caps apply the mineral oil beside a q-tip gently to the eyes daily(twice preferred) until they come off.
*Do not use tape to remove the eye cap! I know this is in many care guides, but don't do it! There is a greater unsystematic of hurting your snake. The q-tip with mineral oil will safely verbs the eye caps and remove them.
I have a few boas that require raising the humidity to 80%-85% at the milky phase plus on a daily basis soakings to get a good shed.
