Bearded Dragon Baby (going on a trip)?
Hey im going to Wyoming for our thanks giving.
We live in Pueblo west CO and it is about a 5 hour coup¨¦ ride to the place. Due to him being high matenance, i will have to appropriate him with me. Will he be fine with the heaters on in the sports car? any tips u can give me to make him happier during the trip? thx
If you are transporting contained by the tank, take out any decoractions that are not secure, bring out any branches that aren't secure (you don't want them to shift and fall and hurt him). Also empty the river dish, you don't want it splashing around and soaking the substrate. Maybe buy a couple of hand warmers to have if he wants extra heat. I bought some, but haven't used them,so I can't suggest how to use them on the other hand.
For warmth, gamamoe's answer was fine. My beardies didn't like to travel. If you aren't traveling alone, own someone hold your beardie for the trip (I also used a reptile leash in case they decided to try to lunge around). He will be much happier this way & can be held closer to the heater if needed. The hot pack gamamoe mentioned can be found cheaply at the Dollar Tree (I just bought several last week- I believe the brand at Wal-Mart stays warm longer though). Answers: Use a small carrier that he would be comfortable within and buy some of those instant heat packets (usually sold in stores similar to Wal Mart in sporting goods areas) Activate it and place it under some bedding approaching hand towels and he should be just fine. Your trip is not that long so just wrap him up, use the steam pack and take off. If you are taking him in his storage area just do the same thing. Put the fry pack where he normally likes to be. If you are not taking his hutch have you thought about his lighting, heating and housing where on earth you are going?
