Bearded dragon have the runs?
Ok, was just sitting here on the computer and my beardies tank is right subsequent to me, and all of a sudden I heard a horrible runny poop sound. Had to look and see whether it was my dog, but when I looked up I saw my male hunched up pooping. He pooped for a relly long time.
I just get him, and his female companion less than a week ago, and have the right size enclose, heat lamp, UV light, and adjectives that stuff. Is he OK? Like I said I just got them, and they are both full grown, and not sure how weel they took perfectionism of them. they look good, eyes are clear, base of the tails own nice fat reserve, ect. Now they are not real active, but will a grasp a move on it for some crickets.
Any help?
Thanks a ton!
you should rob the poop and your beardie to a reptile vet just to make sure he doesn't own parasites
What is your protein to vegetable/fruit ratio? If you are feeding them vegetables what helpful are you feeding them? One thing to remember, NO GRAPES. To much vegetables in the diet can produce your beardie to get very loose stools. See if you can stick to strictly protein for the subsequent couple of days and see if it clears up. If not, get him to a herp vet.
Another thing to check is the temp contained by the basking area. If it is not in the right range, your beardie will not digest properly.
Good luck.
Answers: What are you feeding them?
It could be that you are feed them something that is too watery.
Here is a list of food items that are upright for them...
Feeder insects = crickets, roaches, locusts, silkworms, hornworms, butterworms, and phoenix worms.
Greens = collard greens, Kale(recommended only given on occasion), cabbage, spring greens, escarole, turnip greens, mustard greens, dandelion greens, parsley, and carrot tops.
Feeding a mix of these plants and insects ensures a wider variety of nutrients, and variation in texture to aid digestion.
He could also be stressed from the move or even stressed from having the other Dragon housed with him.
I own a male and female dragon and keep them contained by seperate cages...one has a 55 gallon and the other a 75 gallon.
Did you amend their diet? If so, that could be it. It also could be stress due to moving. Take them to your vet. If you can't do that, at least call your vet for some advice.
Hey, what exactly are you feeding him?
that would help out alot but feed him very solid food for about 2 days and whether he still has the runs take him to the vet and they can help him.
