Best foods for tot eastern box turtle next to a immensely well appetite?
I got my lovely hatchling (her yolk sack had just fall off) Peewee a couple days ago. I am so in love with this little critter, but I'm confused. Everyone else has told me that they munch through almost exclusively meat at that age but they lady I bought her from said they needed mostly fruits and veggies. I bought beef & veggie canned dog food similar to the lady said, some meal worms (as that's whet most people nurture them), fake crab the lady said they liked, and we still hold plenty of fruits and veggies to feed her. She turned her nose up at the apple, and doesn't seem to close to steamed carrots much, and will only eat a couple bites of dog food, but she LOVES lunchtime worms. She's only the size of a quarter, and she ate 3 worms in one feeding, and probably would own eaten more but I didn't want her to get sick so I didn't give her any more. Lol it's so cute. She's so clumsy I own to hold her in my hand and put the worm in front of her for her to seize it. I did trick her into eating some mashed steamed carrot by putting it on top of the worm. What is the just the thing baby eastern box turtle diet? Also, how often can I handle her, and is she smart ample to get in the water dish herself? I buried it within her bedding so she can see the water. Any extra tips are also appreciated!
Answers: If the water dish is shallow, the turtle will know how to climb in and out by itself.
I'd lean toward a high protein diet at first: earthworms, soft-bodied insects. bits of liver dusted in bone banquet, whatever it likes. As it matures (be tolerant for a few years), you can start adding dark green leafy vegetables to its diet. You might also try a different brand of dog food or even cat food.

growing turtles do need more protien contained by the beginning but also need some of the other stuff
