Hermit crabs claws come past its sell-by date what very soon?
My sisters hermit crabs claw came off,both of them. what happen now will it die? and can it still eat? im worried :(:(
Question is how did they come off? And it should be fine just keep replenishing the food how you enjoy been feeding it all along and keep hold of a little hut thingy in its cage to stow under. Its claws should regenerate but do not put any other hermits in beside it cause then it has no defense. Good Luck!
There are two things that could be happening.
1. If your outsider crab is staying quite and not being active, sort of hiding from the pallid, maybe under sand or gravel, then he/she is probably molting. eventually adjectives of his hard outer coating will come off, and he will turn pink and slimy/mushy looking. LEAVE HIM ALONE, DONT TOUCH!! he will come out in time! (about... 2 weeks to 2 months, it depends some times...) WHAT EVER YOU DO, DONT TOUCH IT! your ascetic will be fine, just leave him be.
2. Your hermit crab have a disease, or is undergoing a huge amount of stress. let him rest/ dont take him out for a couple of days, And hopefully things will turn out fine! The stress might not be your guiltiness, it could be caused by the other crabs in the cage.

be he buried in his sand? if he was buried surrounded by his sand and he is a lighter color then he normally is, hes probably molting. LEAVE HIM ALONE.hey are normally EXTREMELY sore and tender when they are molting. It of late means they are growing.
Answers: My hermit crab did this two. If they use lose anything else within less than hour(like a leg), they will most likely die. He can still use the smaller claw to eat. When they molt, they will grow it fund. The reason they did this in the first place is because they are stressed out.
