I am using scotch casing cassette to hold up my snakes fry storm lantern on the spinal column of the hold. i be wondering whether it?
will cause a fire. i tried to start it on fire and all it did be melt.
If the cage is wood, then you need to sink some long screw or nails in there and tie the light to the screws. If you are using a glass aquarium, then I estimate you need to buy something at a pet store to hold the lamp up. They probably have tongs to attach to a oil lamp. Or, they have a hood/lamp that fits over the top. Or, you could cover the top of the cage with a chain mesh and lay the light on that.
Scotch packaging tape doesn't appear like it would catch fire. You have to take heed. If it melts the tape, it could leave a mess on the kerosene lamp. Anyways, good luck.
If there is satisfactory of it tape is flamable. However, the heat from the lamp will most possible melt the glue on there and the storm lantern will fall in. You need to find a better road to attach the lamp or you may kill your lizzard when it falls in (or he may carry out). Good luck.
Answers: If you could post some pics or email me I may be able to help you near the setup. Knowing more about the cage the light fixture, etc, the more details the better. Care desires to be taken with lights, to setup in away that the snake can not come into contact near any hot surfaces and all heat sources should be controlled by a thermoregulator.
