My Snake Just Got Bit!! Help?
My Snake just got bit while feeding and I stopped it and get bit myself, lol. After he swallowed he didn't have any swelling or bleeding that I could see but he did seem a bit twitchy. Is there anything I can do to hold the bite clean and stop it from potentially becoming infected?
they tend to seize bitten all the time. it's nothing serious. rub some human grade antibiotic cream on him, resembling neopsorin or something, and leave him alone to heal.
rub some on you, too.
some human grade antibiotics contain chemicals harmful to snakes do not use.
u could walk to the vet/reptile store and see if they have any Tamodine. or just give up it keep an eye on it if and if it looks similar to its getting infected see a vet. but honestly it should be fine
(and people ask why i think livefeeding's a bad idea)
Take your snake to the vet to get antibiotics, and then switch to frozen food its safer for the snake. The next bit might bring a worse injury or be fatal.
It's one of the reasons feed live prey is illegal in the UK. It causes unnecessary suffering to the mouse and the snake.
Feed defrost frozen
uhh idk try the vet
Got bit by what?
The local vet will have antibiotics that will sort out most bites
Answers: Feeding live prey is not illegal contained by the UK, otherwise you couldnt buy Live crickets, locusts or feeder mice from reptile shops? However its not recommended as the snake can get beaten up by a mouse and will probably run absent from any rodent you put in. Try and feed dead rodents from very soon on. warm up the frozen mouse to slightly above room temperature. get some tongs and flounder the mouse in front of the snake to mimic a live one, once the snake sees it hopefully it will strike and drink it. Be patient though it may take a few goes. consequently you can bulk buy mice etc. it will stop any suffering all round. Good luck
