Red Tail Boa acting strange?
Diamond is a 22 year old red tail boa, she is five and a half feet long. Today I notice she was VERY active today, most days she basically lounges around. But today she has been trying to climb to the top of her pen which is five feet tall and she HAS fell a dozen times today while trying to cause it to the ceiling. I am afraid she is going to hurt herself and that she might be sick. I fed three large rats two weeks ago, she shouldn't be very hungry, the heat is about 86 degrees, she has plenty of dampen and moderate light, she recently shedded. Why is she acting this way? She hasn't be sick in years. Can anyone help?
snakes dont act that way when they are sick. she is probably just bored.
i imagine she'd be hungry; you can try giving her a rat or mouse purely to see if she is. my ball python usually roams around a great deal when he's hungry.
Answers: Something is causing her to stress. Check the humidity plane in her cage. Sometimes when you re-arrange an enclosure, a snake will become influential and explore. Mites can cause a snake to also feel uncomfortable. Some snakes will achieve active like that right before they jump to the bathroom. Your boa is older and you may also want to consider that. You may also consider taking her in for a check-up.The age of your boa is a reflection of the pious care you have given her. Kudos!
