What other amphibian/reptile can I put contained by next to my fire bellied toads?
i have 3 fire bellied toads and have a 40g tank what elese can i put within with them?
You can fit up to four t-rexes in a tank of that size.
NONE
fire belly toads are toxic, u know this right, empire used to keep fire belly newts with them BUT this is because they be ignoreant to the fact fire belly newts need deeper hose down (6 inches minimum where fire belly toads do better at 1-4 inches), the temp ranges are slightly off (fbn = 14-20C next to 21C being the highest they should be kept at fbt 19-24C leaving a tiny outside edge for error) and fire belly newts didnt die quickly from exposure to the toxins. it is now prearranged that fire belly newts that are kept with fire belly toads own a much reduced lifespan caused by continuous exposure to fire belly toads toxins. depending on species fire stomach newts live from 15-30 years where most kept with fire belly toads dont carry past 5 or 8 so dont so it.
there are very few compatible amphibians, basically because 2 species look similar on paper doesnt mean there compatible, most mixes finish off up with one of the following problems stress, aggression, food competition, unable to provide the exact environmental niche needed for both species. disease, parasite, bacteria transfer (just because one species can harbor one type of disease etc without any unpromising effects doesnt mean they all can). in a voluminous number of cases it ends up with dead sick or badly treated pets.
adjectives of MR suggestions are flawed, just because 2 species were kept together for a number of months doesnt mingy there suitable, people tend to call a mixed container a success after only a few months were problems tend to crop up any early (in the first few weeks) or later (like a year or 2 ) ive only ever see 2 mixed tanks that had be successfully working for over 2-3 years. one was american green and american grey treefrogs and the other be whites and white lipped tree frogs.
Answers: When creating a community tank, the most important piece is that all the individual animals get the care and attention they have need of. With reptiles and amphibians this means good heating, and dutiful food. I would suggest keeping the new additions separately for awhile. This allows you to become familar with their feed and daily habits, but also lets you see whether they are in shape.
As for the types of animals that can be kept with fire-bellied toads, I have seen them kept successfully next to various tree frogs, and Madagascar Day Geckos. Remember to check the conditions of your terrarium to make sure they they trickle within the range of optimums for whatever species you choose. Do not gain anything large or omnivorous, as the firebellied toads are not a good diet item.
Fire bellied toads are toxic to other species.
