Are dwarf hamsters or chinchillas firm to bear precision of?

Hi people! I want a chinchilla really bad or maybe a dwarf hamster. My husband say I can only have one if I promise to rob care of it. I know I know, he sounds like my dad LOL! But he did get stuck taking caution of my fish & my water turtles. I take care of the cats. Anyway, how much work is involved beside a small pet like that? How much cleaning, how often, how much odor, how much feeding, etc?
I have both.

I have 3 robo dwarf hamsters and they aren't very dirty or thorny to take care of. They are fun to watch because they own a lot of energy but you can't really do anything with them.

And I hold 11 chinchillas. They are easy to take care of, within my opinion. They don't smell bad at all, which is nice. Just revision the bedding on a regular basis (every 10 days or so is probably fine), make sure they own food and water, give them a dust bath every 2 - 4 days, bequeath them some treats & things to chew on (and hay)... They are really fun. I let mine out to run around the room and if you sit still they'll go go underwater on you. They bond a lot better than a hamster. Some of my chins know their name and like to be held (not like mad but more than my hamsters, haha).

Chinchillas can live up to 20 years though so please take that into consideration. Hamsters are 2 - 4 years, for the most part. Maybe start with a hamster to find used to bedding changes & whatnot. As long as you keep up with bedding change, neither should smell bad, especially if you simply get one. I'd recommend 2+ so they don't get bored (hamsters mostly, a single chin can be okay if you own plenty of time to play with him). =3

If you have any chinchilla questions, a moment ago e-mail me or something. =)
I'm the owner of chinchillas, I also run a rescue and I'm a soon to be breeder. In my experience, chinchillas are low maintenance, but their routine take some getting used to.
As with any animal, chinchillas need fresh food and water each day. They also need timothy hay once daily and alfalfa once weekly. Treats are optional, but generally frowned upon.
Their urine is odorless and they have hard pellet poop like a hamster. Though, a chinchillas existence span is 15-20+ years opposed to the hamster's 2 years. So it's really easy to have a duration long friend once you get a chinchilla.
I DO recommend that if you decide on a chinchilla, achieve them from a private breeder instead of PetSmart or Petco. They set their animals up for death by feeding them Kaytee which has too heaps artificial preservatives and keep plastic in their cage which can mete out death if chewed on.
I'll put a website where you can find breeders contained by your area in my 'Sources'.
Their cages should be changed once weekly and their shavings should other be pine or aspen; cedar can cause respiratory infections.
If you have any other questions, I'll post a really perfect chinchilla forum that's also a good place to learn in my sources as powerfully. Good luck!
Answers:    Well i would read out Chinchilla because they have a way longer life span up to 20 years and a dwarf hamster 1-2 years. But, chinchillas are harder to transport care of because there is A lot of things that they can't eat. I will mark the most common things that you should know about them but first before you return with one you should research on them. Well first for food chinchilla pellets (bests brand Mazuri) try not to get with treats (NOOO!! NUTS!) they can't digest them and they could DIE! Also you inevitability to have Hay (best brands alfalfa or timothy) timothy better if you get alfalfa brand name sure you give them less because alfalfa make them put on more weight. (No fruits or Vegetables) raisin or cheerio are the best treats for them try to give them 1 a day or smaller quantity because raisins could give them diarrhea. Closed all around well no wholes! because some chinchillas enjoy gotten their feet abutted or killed. Multiple level in cage at least 2 or 3. Don't but them a plastic pen nothing that is plastic they eat it and could kill in cold blood them because of all the chemicals that there are in plastic. Some wood any stick out side or you can buy them sleep -n- sill wood so that they can chew on they don't eat it! they only chew on it. It keeps near teeth from growing to be HUGE! dust bath (brand KAYTEE) and for the bottom of the cage carefresh. and WATER!
I would recommend a dwarf hamster. 1. Their amounts of "presents" is a lot smaller quantity than a chinchilla's. 2. They don't need very big cages. 3. They are intensely cute!
If you have a habit of not taking care of a pet, I do not recommend a chinchilla as they own a 10-20 year lifespan. at least the hamster will only live about 3. Cats would not be great around any small animal and would stress the animal out. their cages need to be cleaned regularly,at least once a week, as ably as fed and watered about every 3-4 days depending on how and what you are feeding them, Chinchillas require special nurture and will not fair well on things like rabbit or hamster food. If you enjoy cats keep it at that, a chinchilla is a long term commitment.
