Are hamster mites homicidal?
My hamster has mites (or so I think). I'm going to bring it to a vet on Saturday. He's been scratching for more or less a month, maybe two months. I just want to know if they are mortal. Are they?
Also, how much is the average mite treatment for a hamster?
Hello, i dont own any hamsters, but 4 fancy rats :)
I've just done a search on google for hamster mites,
and it came up next to a good site with helpful information on.
i'd give somebody a lift your little one to see a vet, as they can help ur hamster.
i hope this helps,link below.
are they pinhead-sized black ones that turn red after feeding? If so, they won't kill in cold blood the hamster, but they are an annoyance to the rodent, and the owners. They itch and bite, even the owner. Wash your cage with diluted bleach, then next to soap to get rid of the bleach. Use super hot water too. Put any food you have moved out in the bag/bin,etc in the freezer. The mites may have come from the food, but the freezing temp. should take out them all. Also do so with the bedding. Wash your hamster as well. use heat water about 2 inches deep and consent to it swim around. Use a bit of soap, only a little, and avoid eyes ears and mouth. Dry your hamster off beside a towel. Put him back in the cage after verbs and things have been in the freezer for an hour, and the bedding have been allowed to get room temp again. You will want to clean the location you put the pen in as well.
If this is done, there should be no stipulation to go to the vet. this happens often because of their food and bedding.
If the mites return, it shouldn't be for reasonably a while. Just keep the cage really clean. Ifit happen again, repeat the steps
Answers: The vet visit will probably cost you $30. The vet will most likely give him an ivermectin injection that costs approximately $15. This gets rid of any mites or lice he may have. Certain types of mites can be fatal whether left untreated, but its not that common. Good luck!
