Are horse pellet (feed) ok for a hamster to own as a special treat?
i have some horse feed... like the everyday pellets that horses have for their main collation besides grass and hay.. and i was wondering if my hamster would be allowed to have one every once within a GREAT while.. like as a special treat.??
im not certain ?
but i wouldn't.
NO! Horse feed is specially formulated for horses... NOT hamsters!
Answers: No they're not - and for several reasons. One reason is they contain alfalfa, which is not pious for all rodents, like older guinea pigs, rats, hamster, and some others. Another root is that they're vitamin fortified - and they are vitamin fortified for something large like a horse. A hamster weighs a few ounces - a horse weigh quite a lot more - from somewhere over 1,000 pounds to over 2,000 pounds, depending on age, and breed. So if you want to shorten your hamster's already short vivacity, go ahead and give him an unhealthy treat for him - otherwise, find something suitable to supply him, like the occasional sunflower seed.
