Are masculine or womanly Syrian hamsters better than respectively other contained by any method?
Also, any tips to ensure it doesn't bite would be useful.
If you get hold of it from a pet store, chances are the females might already be pregnant, which will lead to you getting bit. Male hampsters usually hold better temperaments. But if you get more than one, trademark sure they are both the same gender!
I would usually budge with a male. All the females I have have tended to be a bit more nippy.
Make sure you put your hand surrounded by flat and let the hamster investigate it, don't grab them to start with or they will in recent times bite, its a question of letting them get used to your smell and feel
Answers: From personal experience, male Syrians are much more friendly and tend to bite less. I've have great experiences with Black Syrians that never bite and are very tame and social from the establishment. A way to ensure no biting is to wash hands thoroughly previously handling the hamster and being gentle.
