Are rats fun pets? Are they straightforward to hold on to?

I have hamsters are rats looked after in a similar way to them? Is at hand any down sides to having rats like do they smell?
rats make lovely pets. they are alot smarter and friendlier than hamsters, and they will simply smell if you dont clean them out enough
Rats don't smell. Or at tiniest they smell the least of all the rodents. Rats are very cuddly, social little things which is a contrast to hamsters, most of which almost not tolerate being held and pet. You have to spend more time with them. And they are super smart, so put together sure you have things in their pen to keep their little minds busy when you're busy. Rats also grow for a moment bigger than hamsters, even the Syrian kind. I really can't think of any down sides to rats except that perchance your mom won't approve of them. My mom's still getting used to mine.
Answers:    I have have rats since 2005. I had hamsters in the past and enjoy enjoyed rats much more.

Rats are smart, funny, loving and fun to watch.

Boy rats have a stronger smell than females, but the smell will lone be there if the cages is not cleaned recurrently enough - just like whether our toilets wouldn't flush after a while, it would be noticeable.

Boys seem to me more loving and more willing to sit within your lap and snuggle. Girls are more ready to explore when you get them out of their pen.

Never keep just one - unlike hamsters, they are social creatures and will be miserable alone when you're absent. They like to cuddle together to sleep and play, etc.

There are several really good websites on how to choose a home for them (most hamster houses are too small), how to produce toys and hammocks for them, what to feed them, etc.

Mine especially love cooked oatmeal, grits, ice cream and fresh veggies.
Any animal can be fun and learn lots from it owner if they take their time. If you save the cage clean rats do not smell. Talk to them and they do learn. People do not even realize how much they can cram. Have fun with your new friends.
Rats are awesome pets. We used to have 3, they are really friendly, despite what most people may think. They are NOT other vermin. When human-reared, they are very friendly, fun, playful pets to have.
In adjectives honesty, they don't smell too bad. Less than guinea pigs, but maybe a tiny part more than hamsters. A verbs out once a week should do the trick. Myabe try using lavender sawdust, it also makes your house smell amazing. :)
And yes, hamsters are similarly look after to hamsters, except for: you will need a sizeable cage, give them some running time at least twice a week, and remember a gnaw block, this will prevent them from getting bad front teeth.

Good luck if you do decide to acquire some!
Rats are good pets they are very smart
Well if you thought keeping hamsters be easy than ya i would say easy
They don't smell as long as you preserve their cage clean

Rats make great pets! You can instruct them tricks and train them. They will smell if you don't keep their cage verbs.
I find they are most efficiently kept (lowest maintenance) in a snake's belly! Good luck.
