Can I use a blow up kiddie pool as a guinea pig hold?
I can't find plastic ones anywhere! I've checked walmart, target, amazon, ebay, kmart, and pool store websites. All there are is blow up ones. Would they chew on them? Is it safe? Automatic best answer if you can make a contribution me a link to a plastic kiddie pool that I can buy.
Thanks!
why don't you in recent times buy a cage from petsmart or petco.
or a fish tank.
That fact that you're set on a plastic kiddie pool shows complete disregard for the well mortal of the animal. Things wrong with the kiddie pool idea:
- the pig will chew right through anything it can get its teeth on --> the toxins surrounded by the plastic could kill the pig
- the plastic will scratch easily and become a breeding ground for microbes --> this will make cleaning the thing a nightmare and the health of the pig become jeopardized
- good luck finding a proper top to fit over that thing --> if you don't believe you need a top, don't get the pig
I suggest a total glass set up (base and walls). It needs to have an nouns of at least 10 ft, that's assuming you'll take the pig out for the majority of the day. If the pen will be it's main home, then I'd propose doubling the size to about 20 ft of area. Wires bases are death-defying for any small animal as their feet can get trapped in the grooves and break (which surrounded by most cases leads to euthanizing the animal). Wires walls aren't bad but, the pig will chew on the wires which can get annoying.

I'd do some more research and preparation in the past you get the pig and if you have it, go and get it a proper cage...NOT a plastic kiddie pool. Those are for kids...not small animals.
No hun, plastic it would chew right threw. try a chalice aquarium instead. your better off.
Do NOT use an aquarium. They aren't big enough for guineas. (Don't use a blow up pool any.) The only decent commercial guinea cage I've see in stores is this one: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... It's got enough room for your guinea to run around a bit. The best cage though, are C&C cages. Please look into those!
no you shouldn't because they can pop it and they can crawl out i have a 50 dollar guinea pig cage from pet co and i have a chalice aquarium they cost like 20 dollars and they can kick bedding and feces out
honestly, just get a regular enclose, a metal one! Or even a plastic one!
A kiddie pool, blow up, is definitely bad, and a plastic one isn't great either!
Just turn to PetCo, Petsmart, or other Pet Stores, not Walmart or Target!
Go online and order a normal cage! It is much safer for your guinea pig!
Have fun near your pet! :-)
I honestly wouldn't use plastic to keep a guinea pig in. They love to chew things and would potential chew right through that. I've had guinea pigs who have chewed the plastic bottoms of their cages back. I would get a cage with metal bar. That would be best. At least if they chew on those, they can't chew right through them.:)

Its the first pool you see.
I do not think you could...guinea pigs have moderately sharp claws
buy one of those ones that have the metal pipes and that are made of the type of blue fabric that camping tarps are made of...whether you must use a swimming pool - they are much stronger than the blow up type
here is a location that has them

No, you really can't. Rodents chew. The guinea pig would definitely deflate the pool, and might swallow some of the plastic too.
Answers: I think your guinea pig would chew a hole contained by it right away. Don't waste your money on that one. If you want a cheap and easy channel to make a big guinea pig pen, use wire mesh (like little squares instead of the big hole chicken chain, just because it is stronger and less flexible then chicken wire). Cut it so that its just about a foot high or more if possible, then form a big square or circle next to it. You can make it any size or shape you want. It works great! Just make sure that you don't head off any sharp pieces of metal anywhere on it. All of the pointed wire pieces need to be cut off or bent so they can't hurt you or your guinea pig. For the floor on the pen, you can put it contained by the grass if you are going to be supervising the guinea pig while it plays outside, or you can make the pen square and almost the size of a broken down cardboard box. Then you can use the box as the disposable "floor". My piggies loved it <3
No way! Buy a real round up with good ventilation, preferably a chain cage. If you need more help contact me.
if you want to put to death the pig. no cage needed construct a habitat with lotsa shelter from predators & weather -use chicken wire on top and procession the hiding areas with straw and newspaper.
