Dwarf Hamsters, 1 or 2?
I want to get a dwarf hamster, but I am worried that it will be lonely because I have read that they are nocturnal. Should 2 so that they can keep respectively other company? I have also read that you should not keep more than 1 dwarf hamster in a hold. Any advice?
1 defiantly unless you want to buy separate cages, they skirmish if they are put together. I got told that they were fine together buy a pet shop soul and 2 months later guess what one had lost some fur and they were really aggressive against respectively other. This was only for Russian Dwarf Hamsters I don't no about the other types.

They are talking roughly speaking SYRIAN hamsters. Syrians are naturally highly territorial and aggressive, if placed beside another hamster, they WILL fight to the death. Which will result in blood and cannibalism, and IS unlikeable. NOT dwarf hamsters. Most of these answerers don't know what they're talking about.
Dwarf hamsters are highly social and NEED a companion to play next to. They are nocturnal, so they will be up wanting to play when you are not. It is best to get TWO dwarf hamsters. If not, your hamster will be lonely, can become depressed, and live a shorter life. Most likely, they will NOT collide. But you have a better chance at preventing one if you bring back 2 males. They are naturally less aggressive.
Watch them carefully for any wounds or injuries, whether you suspect they ARE fighting, then separate them. You CAN introduce them later using the split shut within method.
Again, please don't listen to people saying "never put 2 together or if you put 2 together they will get through each other"
I have two males
they lasted 3 years but did fight sometimes
but they did share a cage so it be expected

I had two males from equal litter and they were fine for about a month. And then one morning I woke up and found a partly eaten hamster with a fat and bright and breezy looking brother still alive.
He was named Cannibal from that day forward.
Answers: There are three kinds of common Dwarf Hamsters that are sold within Pet Shops Roborovski, Chinese and Russian Dwarf hamsters. They are generally quite sociable with their own variety although Russian hamsters do have a reputation of becoming quite hostile in relation to their territory. It is best to get two dwarf hamsters esepcially if you are wanting to buy the Roborovski and Chinese hamsters as they are smaller amount inclined to become territorial. Even when dawrf hamsters do start fighting usually buying two little homes for the cage or getting two food bowls resolves the problem. You said that you enjoy read that keeping more than 2 dwarf hamsters in one cage is unadvisable this is untrue for Dwarf Hamsters but it is fundamental for Syrian Hamsters that are a different breed of Hamsters and much larger...keeping more than one of these Hamsters in a cage long term is noxious as they will fight to the death once they have sexually matured.
There should be no problem within keeping two Dwarf Hamsters that have come from the same litter or have grown up together earlier sexual maturity in one cage infact it is advisable...surrounded by most good pet shops they will tell you its fine but remember to keep an eye on them whether they start fighting try resolve the problem by getting two little houses if they still fight gain another cage but this will be a rare extreme necessity.
However if you do resolve to get one you must constantly remember to stimulate it by handling it as much as possible and get enough toys so it will not attain bored and therfore turn wild.
