amd 2 nights ago I be reading Twilight until 3:30 am An dI usually go to bed at 12:00am ? And So At 2:30am I found out my hamster has be gnawing(chewing) on the bars!
So I wonder if that's bad?
He is a long haired masculine Teddy bear hamster(not freakishly long haired)
And if ur going to say draw from another cage I can't not yet
Also I have have him for around 4 weeks a little more?
they are rodents, therefore have to chew to hold their teeth in shape. their teeth grow all the time, not like ours. So in recent times get him other things to chew on. They sell little blocks and stuff in the pet stores.
Your hamster is bored. When hamsters chew on the cage bar they are seeking attention. If he sees (senses) that you are awake and not playing with him, he will want to be held. Don't just spray the coop bars, fix the root of the problem. I would get him a bigger cage, whether you can and hold him whenever he's up. He should receive an hour of out of cage time everyday. This is what I do:
15 min of exercise ball
15 min of socialization
15 min of rest
15 min of socialization
15 min of exercise ball
I recommend you follow those guidelines.
nah. most animals in cages do that...even though we put toys in their hold...i don't understand animals at all
well, i wouldn't worry, but whether he keeps doing it constantly, i would put vinegar or something like that and he will stop ( i did that with my hamster) Good Luck!
P.S. isn't twilight the best? I stay up adjectives night reading it too!
:)
His teeth probably itches, and he wants something to bite on. Buy him a small wooden toy or something hard to chew on, it will probably stop him from chewing the cage bars! My hamster runs on the reins like 24/7 Lol.
my friend have the same exact cage :)
it is normal for him to be gnaw at the bars, he wants to grind down his teeth. And as for him not letting hold you, hamsters tend to be like that.
Answers: I don't know why hamsters gnaw on the bars of their cages, but they do. As long as your hamster isn't bleeding from gnaw too much, your hamster should be fine. When I was little, I had a hamster, Booboo, who gnawed on the bar of his cage so much that my mother tried coating the bars with cayenne pepper and Tobasco sauce, but he merely kept gnawing. He was out (I'd let him out to play) and climbed into my big desk drawer and made a nest in it. My mom and I thought about it, emptied the desk drawer (he couldn't gain out by himself without all the papers in there) and wrinkled it with newspaper and torn newspaper for bedding, put his food and wet dish in, and there he lived, for nearly five years. He was an extremely full-bodied hamster and also very happy. I'm telling you this because whether your hamster doesn't do well in his cage beside bars, you do have other options. Just look at the sides of his mouth to see whether he's bleeding. If he's not, he's fine. If he is, then try a large desk drawer or other 'deep container' for him until you can catch a new cage ... I recommend small aquariums for hamsters, with a 'mesh lid' that you can buy to step on it, because the hamster can't gnaw on it, and you can actually see the hamster better through the glass. You're a good hamster owner to express concern for your hamster, and I hope this have helped you some. Booboo died in 1962, and all of my kids have hamsters of their own, and so have my grandkids, now.
They get bored and if they don't have anything else within the cage, they become curious.
Isn't Twilight obsessive? Sure it isn't a great piece of literature, but it keeps me up, too! xDD
He is just bored. Get him pregnant. Then he will have other stuff to keep engaged with.
i used to have the exact same kind of hamster! its totally ok! my hamster did duplicate thing!! all it wants to do is bring back out and play bc its bored. just make sure it cant draw from out! :)
It is a well-mannered idea firstly to sanitize the whole cage as the paint may be hazardous to your hamster.
Get him wooden chews that own a fruit taste for him to chew on and try giving him little wooden toy blocks for him to climb on and explore.
He probably has nothing to do. Get him another friend to play beside.
Then buy a new cage when you get the accident.
This is ordinary. My hamster used to do the same thing and then a month after I get her she stopped. What it means is that she is probably not comfortable in the cage and or is teething, it will pass by.
