How do you breed mice?
I want to breed mice to re home them to less fortunate relatives that don't have a pet for Christmas. Also, How long does it take and what are the needed supplies? Please, don't answer "I don't know" or "Why do you want to do this?". Such answers will be removed. Thanks for any help you can provide.
male mouse, feminine mouse. that easy. mice are simple. but i warn you it wont be pleasant. just take home sure you have plenty of room and lots and lots of bedding. they are foul. and be prepared for them to kill/drown each other and their young at heart.
Hi im 16 and ive just started breeding mice. They are quiet easy to breed. ive freshly had my female with my masculine for a week or two and i took her out on Wednesday and shes big. I think it takes them 2-3 weeks to carry the babies within their body.My other female gave birth over night when it be quiet and she had 3 healthy babies. If you mouse have only a couple of babies it means it is its first time.
There are some really good sites out in that with really good Information.
Answers: Number One: in attendance are not enough people that want a mouse as a pet to warrant breeding them. They have huge litters and can own them every few weeks. You would soon produce enough mice to re-home to the entire united states in a event of months.
Number 2: Giving gifts of animals for Christmas is very dumb, they are forgotten after all is done and mistreated. Dont do that.
Number 3: Mice stink, especially the breeding males.
If you are still going to do it. I would not, but heres what you have need of. A female and male... hope you know how to tell the difference because most pet store owners cant and that is to say where you are getting them I am sure. Then you need a nice sized round up that they can not escape from. They are escape artists and can chew through plastic. Dont use hamster cages since the bars are too far apart and they squeeze through. You are going to have to clean up everything weekly since they pee on everything. Its there way of finding there channel around. So tubes are a horrible idea for mice. They need natural formulated diets, near plenty of fresh water, and some fresh veggie and fruit treats. It doesnt take long. 14 to 16 days or so after mating the mouse will enjoy babies, they will be pink and un-furred... it will take a few weeks for them to run around, and by 4 weeks they will be ready to mate and produce there own. They dont perfectionism who they mate with brother, sister, father, mother. This however is how you produce sickly, un healthy animals. Hope you have lots of room, time, money, and cleaning supplies. Handy to keep hold of some cats around for the escapees or your house will soon be infested with mice. I raise mice for reptiles. They get eat and I would rather not have to raise them, but I dont trust pet stores and integral sale raised mice. Too much comercial crap goes into them, and at hand is never a steady supply. Occasionally I will need a live one for a pick reptile, that i foster or rehab. So I have my own supply. Believe me when I explain to you this... only one in every 30 or so mice i breed goes for individual a pet.
