How much do you income for a guinea pig near its bedding, food, pen ect.?

my hammster just died i want to but a guinea pig this time
well get a c&c cage.jump to cavycages.com for more info about that. get 2 guinea pigs.they are veryu social animals and need a buddy.play beside them and give them excercise EVERDAY for like an hour or so.get a play pen and you can put them within there and they can run around whil you supervise and do work around the house.depending on how big the cage will be it will be at the most $200.00 maybe more.but i cogitate thats a good guess.lets say the round up is $40.00 ok? heres what you need
2 guinea pigs $60.00
cage $40.00
fleece or bedding up to $20.00
food up to $20.00 (need fresh veggies and fruit hay and pellets)
toys $20.00
hidyhouse $10.00
bowls and bottles $20.00

TOTAL:::::::::$180.00

probably more though if you want to spoil your trial friends! they need a big cage though so it may be over $40.00! go to cavycages.com
For bedding I propose either carefresh, or fleece. Carefresh costs 22 dollars for the big 64 oz. bag. Fleece is relatively cheap compared to carefresh it cost me about 30$ to be paid two fleece beddings for my cage. The cage should be a c&c cage because these cage give guinea pigs the amount of space they need ot excercise. If you search for c&c coop on google it will come up with a website that tells you how to build it. My 2X4 cage lone cost me about 50$. Food cost me 5 dollars a month probably because I just buy my pellets from walmart and they are pretty cheap. Of course you gotta buy veggies and fruits, treats, and timothy hay. All of these foods per month costs going on for 35 dollars maybe less depends on where you buy the veggies. Oh you should defenitley know that you shouldn't bring just one guinea pig these rodents are totally different than hamsters. Guinea pigs love to be in pairs or groups they are very social, freshly like humans. If you don't get 2 your guinea pig will be deprived from a social relationship he/she should have! Just don't capture a girl and a boy!! Also be responsible and make sure to research guinea pigs b4 you just run buy some. Go to the library and check out some dated books. Or search on the internet...anything!! Good Luck!
Answers:    Well before you jump into the costs, devise about if this is the animal you really want.

Guinea pigs are social animals. Meaning they need at smallest one or more buddies to live a happy, active life. Yes, when pigs are alone they DO win depressed, and lots of human attention isn't going to cut it. They need someone of their own species to share their time with while you are away.

Guinea pigs are in actuality costly animals. They need veggies daily, quality pellet, and unlimited hay. For hay and pellets, kleenmama is strongly recommend. Oxbow is another strongly recommend brand, for both pellets and hay as well. You can buy their stuff online here:
http://kmshayloft.com/
http://www.oxbowanimalhealth.com/product...

Besides the hay and pellet, a pig needs a cup of fresh veggies everyday. Fruits should be given only as treats. Use this chart, it has a register of all kinds of fruits and vegetables, and how much you should feed them per week. It also have a list of foods that are poisonous, and that you should avoid:

Not to mention, guinea pigs can and will get sick. Are you going to know how to afford a trip to the vet? Some vets bills have easily gone over $200 for a simple URI (the chief cause of death in guinea pigs).

Now, whether you are going to get a guinea pig, adopt. There are THOUSANDS of guinea pigs in need of homes. I can and will give a hand you find one if you don't seem to have any within your local shelter. Many times there will already even be an adoptable pair for you, rather than going through the stress of introductions and whatnot. Not to mention, adopt is much cheaper than any pet store! When you buy from a pet store, you are supporting back yard breeding and breeding mills. Big chain pet stores get hold of their animals from Rainbow Exoctics, which is a breeding mill that has the same conditions as terrible puppy mills. Or sometimes they will own one of their employees breed their stock for them. You can also try looking for pigs at these sites:

http://craigslist.org/

Lastly, the most important thing is, do you hold enough space? A guinea pig needs a C&C cage. A single pig is required to enjoy at least 7.5 sq ft, 10.5 for two. It really isn't as big as it sounds. They need the space for excersize. For more information, please check out this site and join the forum. There are tons of loyal, knowledgable people there who would love to answer any other question you may have!

For the bedding, fleece is actually a common, money abiding thing to use. I love it, and so do my pigs! I am sure you are probably a little shocked roughly speaking it and whatnot, but for more information about that, read this link, it explains everything and has pictures:

If you do prefer to get a guinea pig, keep these links handy as well! They will prepare you many important things about owning a guinea pig. I swear by them.

So adjectives in all:

Food (hay, pellets, veggies): $20 a week
C&C Cage: $60
Guinea pigs: $20 (depends on your local shelter)
Bedding/towels/matress pad: $15-$20

Good luck! Guinea pigs are LOVELY creatures with silly amazing personalities!
Please go on petfinder.com or craigslist.com and see whether there are any adoptable guinea pigs in your area! There are thousands of guinea pigs surrounded by need of homes. They are cheaper priced and so much healthier and happier and will live a longer and better life. Guinea Pigs from pet stores are generally sick and even sometimes pregnant if you chose to get a female...they are poorly bred and are from mills...only just like Puppy Mills when you buy puppies at pet stores.

Guinea pigs are a lot of work...i'm getting two piggies myself! I recommend buying or making a C&C cage. (cube & coroplast cage) Check out cavycages.com for more info. Most pet store cage are too small and are way over-priced.

Here are things that you GP will need:

Fresh veggies and some fruit , here's a website that will help you:
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...

Timothy hay - around $8.00
Chew blocks - around $3.00
High aspect pellets - around $10.00 - $15.00
Bedding (Carefresh or fleece) (depends on size) around $15.00
Cage - if getting a cage from pet store $100, C&C coop $50 (C&C cage will be much larger for less money)
Igloo $8.00
Water bottle $4.00
Food bowl $3.00
Guinea Pig - $30.00 each

Good luck and sort sure you have to money to take your Guinea Pig to the vet whether it gets sick and you might want to get a second guinea pig since they are massively social animals and do better with a partner the same sex or you can put a male next to a female only if the manly is neutered.

Guinea pigs need at least an hour of outside-cage time too, don't forget that!

Well the smallest cage u can get, okay where i live, is about 70$ and the biggest is about 200$. The bedding is pretty cheap, approaching 10$ for a liter, but dont get the ceder or pine kind bcus it causes breathing problems! And the food is resembling 10$ too for 5lb or so. You should get a water bottle too, they're like 5-15$ depending on the size.
