Answers: This is a good question, and an even better learning experience for you. There is no such entity as a "fat" hamster. There is good reason for his behavior, hamsters in the gibbering sometimes have to travel great distances at night to forage for food, in captivity the food is if for them. When there is an ample source of food, you may notice that he will run less. There really is no sure-fire instrument to tell. Some hamsters run less as they mature, some will lone run once in a great while, others will run all night. With winter coming, he's most expected preparing for pseudo-hibernation. In captivity they should never hibernate, however they will still bulk up to a certain degree and increase their fat stores, but to do this they necessitate to slow down their activity. I'm pretty sure ( say 80% ) that in that is nothing wrong with him and it's just the season.
You should buy regular hamster food. The food you're feed him could have some fat in it. Hamsters generally wake up at night and eat next exercise. Give him a good amount of food and make sure he drinks his marine. Keep an eye on him. If he continues to sleep all day and night after wake him up and try to get him to exercise. if he doesn't listen, I propose you take him to the vet because he could have have an infection or is sick from a cold or disease. Or whether he's perfectly healthy, take him to the vet and ask the doctor. They could hand over him some diet foods for him. Good luck.
