Some noteworthy things to consider about guinea pigs is that they usually live to be about 7 years infirm (if taken care of properly) and that they are social creatures and do much better when they have a fellow piggie living with them. If you really do plan on getting one I hope that you will know how to spend a lot of social interaction time with them. Also guinea pigs need room to play within so I'd suggest a medium-sized cage, and making sure you hold a big enough space in your home for out-of-cage piggie run around time. You also will want to be paid sure that you do a lot of research about guinea pig strength and diet. Since they are a small pet, guinea pigs don't show signs of illness until it is almost too late. So know adjectives about guinea pig care ahead of time could help seriously! Timothy-based pellets, fresh green vegetables and hay are essential parts of a guinea pig diet. Fresh water is also a must hold. SmallAnimalChannel.com has a whole page dedicated to guinea pig attention and behavior. You might want to check the website out to get more information.

Okay! I answered a similar question yesterday. I am just going to copy and soft mass my answer. It's really helpful!
Well before you jump into the costs, conjecture about if this is the animal you really want.
Guinea pigs are social animals. Meaning they need at most minuscule one or more buddies to live a happy, active life. Yes, when pigs are alone they DO win depressed, and lots of human attention isn't going to cut it. They need someone of their own species to share their time with while you are away.
Guinea pigs are in actuality costly animals. They need veggies daily, quality pellet, and unlimited hay. For hay and pellets, kleenmama is strongly recommend. Oxbow is another strongly recommend brand, for both pellets and hay as well. You can buy their stuff online here:
http://kmshayloft.com/
http://www.oxbowanimalhealth.com/product...
Besides the hay and pellet, a pig needs a cup of fresh veggies everyday. Fruits should be given only as treats. Use this chart, it has a inventory of all kinds of fruits and vegetables, and how much you should feed them per week. It also have a list of foods that are poisonous, and that you should avoid:

Not to mention, guinea pigs can and will get sick. Are you going to be capable of afford a trip to the vet? Some vets bills have easily gone over $200 for a simple URI (the central cause of death in guinea pigs).
Now, whether you are going to get a guinea pig, adopt. There are THOUSANDS of guinea pigs in need of homes. I can and will aid you find one if you don't seem to have any contained by your local shelter. Many times there will already even be an adoptable pair for you, rather than going through the stress of introductions and whatnot. Not to mention, adopt is much cheaper than any pet store! When you buy from a pet store, you are supporting back yard breeding and breeding mills. Big chain pet stores receive their animals from Rainbow Exoctics, which is a breeding mill that has the same conditions as terrible puppy mills. Or sometimes they will enjoy one of their employees breed their stock for them. You can also try looking for pigs at these sites:

http://craigslist.org/
Lastly, the most important thing is, do you hold enough space? A guinea pig needs a C&C cage. A single pig is required to own at least 7.5 sq ft, 10.5 for two. It really isn't as big as it sounds. They need the space for excersize. For more information, please check out this site and join the forum. There are tons of sympathetic, knowledgable people there who would love to answer any other question you may have!

For the bedding, fleece is actually a common, money positive thing to use. I love it, and so do my pigs! I am sure you are probably a little shocked around it and whatnot, but for more information about that, read this link, it explains everything and has pictures:

If you do settle on to get a guinea pig, keep these links handy as well! They will tutor you many important things about owning a guinea pig. I swear by them.

So adjectives in all:
Food (hay, pellets, veggies): $20 a week
C&C Cage: $60
Guinea pigs: $20 (depends on your local shelter)
Bedding/towels/matress pad: $15-$20
Good luck! Guinea pigs are LOVELY creatures with silly amazing personalities!
