If I started making pet rat clothes, would anyone be prepared to buy?
I currently have 16 pet rats and 13 of them are hairless.they all love going external but when it's fall or spring it's too cold for them so why not rat clothes to keep them warm?
I don't think it would be exceedingly comfortable i understand you reasoning, but i don't know if you would be able to variety clothes that won't bother your rats.
As long as my rat would still be able to move around alright and it really depends on the rats. Small animals like rats and hamsters and other rodents can compress themselves. It's innate, and used in the wild when they have to return with into tight holes, or out of the claws of a predator.
If they didn't like them, they could easily compress their bodies, making them smaller and wriggle out of the outfit.
I hate seeing dogs wearing extremly out of appendage outfits. I think the plainer the better. I mean, dog coats and booties are good for winter walk but I hate it when it gets too fancy. So if you made little sweaters that be fairly plain, as in ; no tassles, no things hanging loose that they could chew/choke on or hurt themselves on.
If its for winter, a bit rat sweater would be adorable. Maybe a maroon knit with a white snowflake or something.
But as I said, it really depends on the rat...
Good luck though. :)
Thats cool to fashion some shirts. I wouldn't buy them though. You could sell them on Ebay. Or make a site to sell them on. You can manufacture free sites at
www.freewebs.com
i guess. i wouldnt buy an acyual shirt, but i would get one if it attached with velcro or something.
Answers: Whether the rats will wear the clothes or not depends on the rat's nature and how easy the clothes are to put on and take off. If your clothes are cute, powerfully made, and easy to take on and off you may extraordinarily well be able to sell them. I would recommend setting up your own website, selling through eBay, or getting a booth at a rat show to show stale your wares. Make sure you get lots of nice pictures of rats wearing the clothes so people can see what they look close to on a rat.
The problem with rat clothing / costumes is that the rats can chew them or wiggle out of them if they don't similar to them. Some people still enjoy dressing their rats, though, check out this link for somebody who sell rat clothes: http://www.theagilerat.com/?action=Store...
Good luck with your rats!
