Im thinking of getting a hamster?
I used to have one but he died a week later as he had showery tail when I bought him. I was wondering... do they bite all the time and for no reason? Does it produce a differnce if I get a boy or girl? Anything I need to know? Thanx
Good choice with the Syrian. they bite less and are easier to keep and manipulate.
For the most part, i prefer to get male hamsters. i.e. completely up to you though. i don't like female as much because of the scent when they are in grill. they are said to be a little bit more calm. i haven't really noticed that huge of a difference between the two though.
They don't bite unless...
they are disturbed from sleep
they are panicky
they are untamed.
These can mostly be avoided by taming them. I have succeeded with my hamster squirt to the point that i can usually newly pick him up when he is sleeping. though that is rude. here is a good means of access to tame them. it is time consuming and they can be stubborn but, don't give up, they will get it eventually.

DO NOT GET MORE THAN ONE HAMSTER PER CAGE
they will collide to the death for dominance, they are only together in the store until a trustworthy age.
DO NOT BREED HAMSTERS
believe it or not, they can become cannibal if the mother is not iin PERFECT circumstances. and there is not way you are going to get hold of money out of it, you spend more on the stuff for them then you make selling them.
hi
Syrian hamsters are generally solitary and will barney to the death if put together (don't get those),whereas some of dwarf hamster species can go and get along with others of the same species. Hamsters are primarily considered considered nocturnal as they are sometimes active adjectives night. They bite if there habitat is not what they want or hungry.
Chinese hamster females are agreed for being aggressive toward the male if kept together for too long. In some cases, mannish Chinese hamsters have died after being attacked by the female. If breeding Chinese hamsters, it is recommended to separate the two of a kind after mating or the hamsters will attack each other. I think it doesn't concern if you get male or feminine.
no when they come into a new domestic they are scared so let them get used to the place.
Not all hamsters bite. When you are picking one out in the pet store you should do two things. Check out all the cage of evey animal to see if they are clean and if the animals look on form. Then you should pick out your hamster yourself. Put your hand in the cage and see which ones are not aggressive. Then buy treats to pass to them so they bond with you.
A great hamster to get is a European hamster they live generally of up to eight years and are very cute!! they hold black bellys goldenish sides and white backs and a European Hamster taken care of correctly decreases its aggressiveness drastically!!
Well..First of all if he/she bites that would anticipate he/she is either hungry, hasn't been handled, or is pregnant. I would recomend a girl because they are more mellow. If your'e getting a boy and girl to breed, try to find 2 that are already within the same cage together. They will also bite if they don't enjoy enough space. My friend got one and made a little pen for it and it never bites! Hope that this help,

If you do get another hamster and you want to use the same cage fashion sure you bleach it really well and use dish soap so it will disinfect it. Hamsters only bite when they are cracked, just woke up and you startled them, if you have food on your hand, if you scare them, and when you hurt them. It doesn't matter whether you get a male or female. Go near a hamster that you can pet and hold at the pet shop and it seems friendly. Go to a local pet shop that isn't a chain. The hamster's are more friendly there and handle more. Also make sure it's a young hamster so it's more feasible to be friendly or become friendly.
well, girl hamsters tend to be more fiesty and smaller number tame. Its just a well specified fact in all rodents.
As long as you get hold of your hamster out everyday to play and keep it's living environment happy and healthy, you should be fine :)
right luck xxx
Answers: They are bred surrounded by captivity BUT they are almost never handled (as the primary sales of hamsters comes from one reptile food.)
They will bite every time you pick it up, but just keep at it and it'll be tame surrounded by no time.
Here's a guide

They might bight because they're hungry haha. Uh... Boys are meanier and girls capture more lonley so if you get a girl you may need to hand over it more attention.
good luck

When you are picking a hamster make sure that his tail isn't raining or he has any physical defects. Hamsters only bite you whether they feel afraid. Try to wash your hands formerly you hold it because if they smell food than they might bite. It doesn't make a difference if you gain a boy or a girl. Just look for the healthiest hamster in the pet store.
oh yea you should totally get a hamster they are awesome!
