I'm not sure that's going to be adequate room for both of them. When I had gerbils, I actually got a 10 gallon aquarium and a hold like the one you describe and i connected it all with tons of tubes - it be great fun for me and the little guys. And I didn't feel bad about them not have enough space. I strongly suggest it! (There are special aquarium covers you can get at pet stores that gross sure the tubes fit well so your little ones don't escape).
Answers: Bad idea. They're plastic, they'll go right through it, believe me. I get 2 gerbils around 5-6 months ago and they're already on their second cage. Their first was plastic and they newly chewed it all up. They now have a cistern made of glass, they're not going anywhere plus they have plenty of room and they can burrow :)
For gerbils, the rule is 10 gallons and 5 gallons after that for respectively gerbil. So for two gerbils, you would really need 15+
Obviously, a Rotastak has nothing similar to this kind of space. As others say, you have abundantly of plastic going on in that cage, so you'll find it will be chewed up quickly. Gerbils are fixed gnawers and are much worse with this than hamsters.
The reason a fair majority of experienced gerbil owners use tank is to offer the animals more space and also to allow enough depth in the container to keep a deep layer of substrate surrounded by. Gerbils need to burrow. You may find they become very unhappy whether not given this option. This thing that Rotastak and a few other companies like Habitrail use approximately "simulating the natural environment" doesn't work, because they can easily make the tunnels themselves and will own far more fun. Where hamsters have wheels, gerbils burrow.
The only time I enjoy known Rotastaks to work successfully is with a few owners using them as what are know as "tank toppers". This is unsophisticatedly an extension of the tank and can be used to give the gerbil some variety. Again, here is a massive risk of gnawing in the tubes you will need to keep hold of a close eye on all the parts.
Tanks are also much cheaper!

I hope this help, they are such lovely little things!
yes a rostastack is big plenty but i would get a gerbal cage like this hope i help.
I brought 2 rotastaks (the 2 biggest I could find which be the space one and the maxi double pod thing) and joined all the bits together for my 2 gerbils to make one giant pen, they still look kinda bored in there though!
The more room you can give them the better.
In my opinion, rotastak cage are not suitable for gerbils. There's poor ventilation, and it's all plastic. Gerbils are big chewers and diggers. They may scratch up the plastic so inadequately that it's no longer clear, and they'll probably chew any bits of plastic they can get their little mouths on. I haven't seen the size of rotastak cages, but I don't recommend them. Gerbils inevitability to room dig and play.
There are some people who use rotastak cages lacking a problem, and it's really up to you. I, personally, would hate to get one, enjoy it demolished within half a year, then own to shell out the extra money for a new, better cage for them.
I would recommend you procure a 20 gallon tank with a wire, mesh lid for a two of a kind of gerbils. They'll be extremely pleased with the extra room, and there's little chance of them escaping. there's also no plastic for them to chew on.
