Is here any assistance for loyal pet owners who know that surrendering the pet is a destruction sentence?
Lydia was a four month old pound puppy/mutt with pnuemonia and epilepsy when I brought her domestic. She is now going on 13 years old and has trouble walking, but she is still so infantile is mind and spirit. I'm broke and can't afford to get her the medications and accomadations she truly wants. If I surrender her they will surely euthanize her. I'm just hoping to give her one more appropriate year.
Awww.. I feel so bleak, if anything like that happened to Skippster... Well, I would enunciate, if she is REALLY hurting, you should DEFINITELY put her to sleep, let her live nicely contained by doggy heaven. But, if she's not in much strain, give the best time of her life!!
Contact your local shelter and ask about a special needs foster home contained by your area. Take a look at yahoo groups and search for "animal rescue" or "animal foster" in your state. You might want to also discuss to your vet about something called "Care Credit". It's a credit card for pets (among other things) that allows you to charge all expenses, and whether you pay it off within a year, there's no interest. Another preference, check with your friends and family, there's no shame in asking for a loan - particularly in this case. Bless your heart, hon, I hope something works out for you.
I would try putting an ad on craigslist and also post some ads at your local vet clinics. Hopefully someone will care ample to take her.
my dog is epileptic, i wish i could furnish you some of her pills ):
could you give her to the vet?
i wish i could take her for you ):
sorry
where on earth do you live?
she will die when the time is right
my town has non kill shelters bring her to one of those in that nice i volenteer there all the time :)
Answers: the pounds and kill-shelters WILL put her to sleep and it will be difficult to find a no-kill shelter or rescue league to take a older dog with strength issues. i would try to contact rescue leagues and see if they have programs to backing you with the vet bills or call vets and see whether they give discounts or know other vets that do charity work that would be your best bet to be able keep hold of her alive. i hope you find help so that you can keep her and she dose not have to facade a pound.
p.s. did you know you posted this in the rodent section.lol! i have done that beforehand too.
