My Guinea Pig Is Acting Strange When He Poops. Help?
My guinea pig is acting very strange while he is pooping this morning. He kind of hops and then sits and next sticks his backside out and poops. Then he sticks his head into his stomach and eats it. I know this division is normal for guinea pigs, but this morning he is doing a lot of poops. I must have cleaned up nearly 30 stools surrounded by the last fifteen minutes. He isn't making a sound when he does it so I don't think he is contained by pain, and he is eating in between doing this. Is the crawling and hopping segment normal? I have never noticed him doing this previously and I don't know if I should be worried or not. I'm also worried about him sticking his backside out. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
Dude.15 poos? I own had my guinea pig out beforee and he has done 40-50 poos in one hour.ha haa. And the hopping around sounds close to poppcorning (excitement and extreme happiness) So my unprofessional quess is he is happy and pooing at the same time!!
Its when the poos are not theyr normal shape or texture when you should be worried.
It may be a digestive problem.
Give your pig a handful of hay (timothy hay or grass hay) a day, and also make certain he has enough vitamin C. Get some childrens vitamin C tablets and break them in partly, a half every 1-3 days should do him well. The roughage (hay) will help him digest easier. Also, whether you give him lots of treats cut them down!
Him eating his poo is fine, gross, but normal.
Answers: Sounds perfectly normal to me some pigs do lots of poops at one time and other times they don't do many at adjectives. If he is holding his bottom up then he is probably just making room for his delivery. Also when they elevate their bottom up they are some times weeing at the same time.
Unless he is wheeking when he is pooping I wouldn't worry and of course he should be intake and drinking plenty if he is doing this then he is probably fine. As for the hopping thing some times my pigs do this and they are immaculately fine I guess they just find it easier. If you have checked them all over and they are fine afterwards don't worry.
You may be over feed him. Maintaining a proper diet for your guinea pig will effect the amount of stools.
