..My hamster's so afraid of me he shakes when I hold him. Help?
Sooooo.
I'm pretty sure the majority of you have bared witness my desperate attempts at taming my hamster.
He's with the sole purpose around six months old (got him in August from a nearby pet store) and, to this immensely day, he won't come into my palm. If there's a treat, he'll take it and run. He doesn't bite but he tries jumping bad my hand a lot.

Bathtub = doesn't work.
Treats = failure.
My voice = fixed no-no.
ALSO.
All he does is pack his bedding in his removable ball - I've get a Crittertrail Z - and stay in there the whole sunshine, coming out only briefly to drink and eat. Do you guys think I should catch a different cage so he won't be so shy? If yes, which one and where would they sell it (other than online)?
Hahahahaha that is HILARIOUS! I had a Hamster the SAME EXACT WAY!! I even had a crittertrail z!
But he is still not comfortable near me.

Let him be the boss to how you two interact. The key is to label him feel as comfortable as possible with you. Take small steps, don't expect it to come in soon. Just remember that voice tone is key, make him recognize your mitt as something good (with food, not startling him, to come out and play or be put in a ball). He will come around, I have creed :)
Omg! my hamster used to be that way xD ! My mom sing to him once tho. He ADORES her! what i did was i left him alone but just peeked at him alot until he get used to my presence. but if ur gonna do that, reamember : NO TOUCHIE. i did that and to this day, my hamster likes me and have never bitten me
Are you squeezing him? Pet him softly, a stroke of one finger will calm him. Are you pushing on him when you stroke him? Okay, is your voice big pitched and loud? Talk in a whisper. Make Absolute silence when you visit him. This is a incredibly good question,

Answers: The hamster may appear like its shaking when you hold it but if I'm not mistaken, tiny animals have much faster heart beat and sometimes that can make it seem like its terrified of something but it is really just hanging out. My bunny does that too!
The CritterTrail Z is one of my favorite cages. Hamsters can be shy. Sounds like you've got an introvert on your hand. Just continue to feed him treats (but not too many) and be patient. Eventually he should find used to you. What breed is he, do you know?
I don't know much about Hamsters, but i am also my self taiming 3 day behind the times guinea pigs. All you have to do is keep holding them, at first they will shake and run. But if you hang on to this up at LEAST two times a day. not usually will a hamster come to you. Imagen how you would feel whether a giant hand came at you and lifted you above ground?

please ^^^^^^^ (up there) never not touch you animal, it will get very lonely. and upset. Its not apt to do that
Mine is the SAME way.
Im not too concerned,I basically let him be,take him out every so often to run within his ball and handle him and he seems without blemish happy.
if its a girl it's pregnant, that is what happened to my hamster she be like that because she was pregnant and if he is a boy it would be terrified of u because if he is a little bit fat it would be tired and sleeping adjectives day or if u left for a long time and u touched another animal it would smell of the animal and its gonna contemplate u r that animal that u touched. sorry if i didn't help. XD
