MY RAT!! PLEASE HELP?
My rat died this morning and I was really sad. I noticed that her eyes have turned white. What does that mean? I had rats before that died and here eyes never turned white. please help, I really want to know what killed her.
mabye your rat ate something but do you have any other siblings mabye they did something to your rat
Like Renogal said, the rat was probably inert for a while before you noticed it and it allowed the eyes to dry out and turn white. How old be the rat? If it was a sudden death of a younger rat then take home sure that if you get a foreign rat you sanitize the cage because respiritory problems can be contracted that way. If you get a topical rat make sure they don't have red mucus coming from nearby nose and that they don't sneeze all the time.

Maybe it had fungus and you didn't notice. It might be cause by the shavings being toooo wet. That is how it get's fungus.
Answers: Your rats eyes only looked white because after demise, the lens over the eyeball turns a milky white color. It begins to dry out after the animals eyes are open for a while. Thats normal within any dead animal, ( or person, for that matter ). Sorry almost your rat, though. Just know that the milky white eyes are no indication of cause of death.
how old was your rat? I never heard roughly speaking eye turning to white when it dies.. maybe she got infection or she has eye catracts?
My rat died next to popped eyes it was really horrible! i am so sorry for your loss.x
