Sugar Gliders? Help?

Hi, so I really thought Sugar Gliders were nasty critters until my friend started wanting one and I looked into it and figured out that not adjectives of them are exactly "butt munchers," if you bond with them right, I know some fundamentals, I will probably end up getting two so they're okay, as I've heard they're better in pairs. I still hold loads of questions though!

1; I'm 13 years old and I've heard that sugar gliders are not angelic around kids, littler kids, right? I've had lots of experience with animals before so I markedly won't be rough housing with the poor thing, am I old plenty to take on one of these new animals?

2; Sugar gliders basically require the nearly diet of a human, protein, vegetables, fruit, etc. How many different food groups could I feed them per day and how much? also, what make good treats? and I've heard that if you administer the sugar glider honey as a treat, it helps you bond?

3; I have two cats that live in my room near me (where I'll be keeping the sugar gliders as well), they're curious but they mean no harm at all to smaller animals, as I've have a set of parakeets and they would lay next to the cage and not bother them at all. They're extraordinarily calm, laid back cats, but how would they react next to sugar gliders? and how would the sugar gliders react to my cats?

4; I've heard rumors (or facts?) that when a sugar glider tries to bite you, it's bite is very sharp and hurting, but other times I've heard it doesn't hurt at all, which one's true?

5; What are some of the things and food that are fatal/harming to sugar gliders?

6; Is shading at the bottom of a cage a accurate thing or is it just a waste of time for these little guys?

7; What's the appropriate age to buy a sugar glider? I want one childlike enough so that it's easier to bond, but I don't want a complete newborn.

8; I have a boy bird and a girl bird, and the two share indistinguishable cage. They do not mate, Are some sugar gliders like this? or should I stick with newly getting two little girls?

9; If you, by any chance, happen to live in Florida, where on earth are some good private breeders? I don't want to buy from a store, bleck.

That's it, thank you. Just want to be careful before I generate a decision on this type of animal. xx [:
Answers:    My answers are gonna be scattered trying to answer adjectives your questions.

I think you are old satisfactory. My 11 yr old is the actual owner of the suggies. I just by the stuff to spoil them.

I have be biten by my suggies and it does not hurt. You want to get them at a young age for the bonding. I got my suggies from here
http://www.sugar-gliders.com/

You enjoy to make them a BML mix, http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/...

I buy frozen veggies for them. They really like corn and carrots.
My sugges achieve BML every night and a bowl of fruit and veggies. Strawberries, peaches, cherrys, blueberries, grapes, kiwi, apples, a varity and we change it up.
They also get Glider aide or nector http://www.sugar-gliders.com/glider-nect...

We use a tent to bond next to our suggies and a bonding pouch. You can find the bonging pouch on the sun coast site.

You need a nice cage for the suggies this is what my set up looks like

I nice fleece sets sour of ebay. There is one woman that will sell them outside of ebay to you. here is an example http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ZEBRA-BOUTIQUE-2...

My guys love those sets.

You will want a wodent wheel. http://www.sugar-gliders.com/wodent-whee...
and the fastener o matic to put in every couple of weeks to trim their nails

Suggies are fine with kids are long as the kids know how to manipulate them and respece them.

You can get the same sex suggies or you can get a masculine and have it neutered and get a feminine. If they male is not neutered they will mate.

A breeder will not sell you a newborn, they won't supply it to you until it is fully weened an ready for it's new home.

My pen set up has a pull out tray on the bottome. I put bedding down there to relief absorb mosture.

I have cats and they do not bother the suggies.
I also prefer suggies in pairs.

I own chinese dwarf rat-tail hamsters and they continuously argue. I don't hold $ to separate them. Any guidance?   My hamster have a most open overbite that make him look fairly retarded, how much do Invisiline braces cost?   Is it possible for a rat to be a masculine, in need any evident boy gentiles?   Possible emergency - My sister's dwarf hamster's leg is sticking out at weird and wonderful angle?
