TRYING TO BUY A HAMSTER. HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED?

I am thinking about buying a hamster. I have had Gerbils and I tryes SO patiently to control them and STILL they dont like me. So I was wanting to buy a Syrian hamster. Where should I buy one from? A pet store that breeds a BUNCH of hamsters or TRY to find a local breeder? I live in Delray Beach FL and I dont know whether there is any down here. Which place will have tamer hamsters?
My feminine hamster is very tamed. But, my male one is aggressive.

If you get from a pet storee, capture when its young.
Hamsters can make hugely good pets but their personalities vary from animal to animal. From personal experience, I prefer Syrian hamsters which come surrounded by various guises in the pet store ( Teddy Bear, Golden, Black Bear, Panda Bear etc). I have gotten adjectives three of mine from pet stores and they have all turned out to be wonderfully healthy creatures. My Teddy Bear and Golden hamsters be a both shy even with extensive socialization but my Black Bear hamster is amazingly friendly. I've only had him for a week and he's already readily climbing into my hand. I'm not sure if this is an isolated luggage and I just found a friendly hamster but I have heard stories approximately the high sociability of Black Syrians. I'm sure local breeders will have collectively more friendly hamsters because they socialize them at a young age but it is possible to find very tame hamsters at pet shops.
I really don't think hamsters are that desperate of a pet. My best friend, Alyssa, owns a hamster, and she has never bitten her hard enough to hurt her. She's have two hamsters, and I find them very cute, and pretty low maintenance. She puts her in her globe to run around in, and can cuddle with her, and they don't smell at all whether you change their cage enough.
Every animal is innovative in their personality. Some will be wild, bite, cut into, etc, then some will be total sweeties. I think it honestly depends on their age and bloodlines. I've never owned a gerbil, but I've had a ton of hamsters. My first womanly was a sweetie, died at 2 years. My second two males were sweeties, died at 1 year. My end female was a total pain, so I give her away. I've had good luck beside hamsters.
Though if you're looking for a pet that will last much longer than that, I'd reccomend a chinchilla. They live 15-20+ years, are usually terribly good natured, easy to care for once you gain used to the routine, etc. You can find a breeder in your area on www.chinchillabreeders.org
I just get tired of falling in love with a hamster and it dying on me.
Don't buy a hampster. You'll get tired of it and it will bite you. My mom and dad go on vacation to Delray Beach FL... Lol. Get a yorkie : )
Do not find a hamster! They bite ALOT, and u cant tame it! U should get a guinea pig. They are very cute and fun! And they dont bite, they bite if u put ur finger around theur mouth. My guinea pigs name is Toffee.
Answers:    , i have one gerbil, and hes fine and nice! he make me laugh
im not allowed to get hamsters cuz they smell, but whether thats what you want...
they say breeders are better, but if you cant find any, go to the pet store, and conceivably find the outcast if you are only getting one. or get the first one you trickle in love with
My daughter has two hamsters and you can't tame them...whether you want a tame animal that isn't a lot of responsibility get a kitten from the shelter.
Good choice.
Syrians uncommonly bite and you can also hold them. Either the local breeder or the pet store is fine. Be sure the pet store is breeding their own in the same nouns. Shipping is really stressful for them and the longer the travel, the more stressful they get and may lead to diarrhea/wet tail which causes disappearance if not treated immediately. You can't be too sure that adjectives of those hamsters arrived are healthy or not. I suggest buying a cure first for wet tail earlier even buying a hamster. The one you bought might already have it and the next thing you know, it died. That's what happen with my first hamster. You'll notice their different personalities while choosing. Some are sleeping melodiously and some are running around in circles and digging sawdust for no particular reason. Usually, the moving ones are aggressive but if you bought them while their young, it's easier to tame them.
