What will start near my Gerbils and a unknown reins?

My gerbils are getting a bit... well... overweight. Anyways, I was thinking of getting them a wheel. so... What type of gearstick is best for a gerbil? also since my gerbils never ended up liking their ball i figure that they will hate the wheel. Will they warm up to it? Or do you come up with they will just chew it to pieces? I don't want to waste $12 if they are merely gonna eat it!
Answers:    Click the link below to see what I am talking approximately. They are way less than $12.00 and, they are metal which means whether they don't warm up to it, they can chew on it and not get plastic bits (which can be toxic). My gerbils took a week to figure it out, and once they do it is so cute to monitor them stumble, but try very hard to run on it! If it starts squeaking, just spray some vegetable grease (which, by the way isn't toxic) and wipe off the wet, greasy parts that are not here behind and it will turn really fast and won't squeak. Good luck!
I purchased a metal wheel for around $9 Australian and two of my mice hated it, they would use it to play hide and seek but would not run on it. However one of them adored it and would run on it heaps once she figure out what it was for.
I guess what I'm getting at with that little anecdote is that it can vary, some will love it, some will repugnance it. No real way of knowing until you try it and keep it contained by there for about a month to give them a fate to learn how to use it. As for the price, who cares? It's something they need and, as a pet owner, you are in somebody`s debt to look after their needs regardless of price.
