What's the best method of training a hamster to know your appendage isn't a snack?

Try wearing a glove until it become confident with you holding it and lightly rub it behind the ears.
Wear some leather gloves. She will save biting you but she will soon realize that your hand isnt food and you are not going to hurt her. If you flick her nose she will be more afraid of you. Dont punish her. She will gain your trust.
Answers: Always wash hands since handling hammie because they have an excellent sense of smell. You don't want to smell like the last yummy entry that you ate or touched, plus washing hands (with unscented soap, preferably), makes your mitt smell the same each time so hammy can get to know you (and know that you're not a snack).

i pick mine up and put her in this bowx with food within it so when i pick her up she thinks she is gonna get food so she doesnt bite me thats my method i hope i helped
Flicking gently or by spraying "Bitter Apple" or something foul taste on your hand.
Every time he/she bites you, flick he/she contained by the nose but not to hard.
