What's wrong next to my hamster?
I got my syrian hamster, Yogie, about 2-3 months ago i guess, and he's been immaculately healthy. When i got him, he had a scab on his support and his ear was torn in half, but not bleeding. Both of those hold healed nicely and have not bothered him at adjectives. (the pet store had like 20 hamsters in like cage)
Anyway, currently he is sleeping(like usual) and he started making these strange wimpering sounds like 20 minutes ago, and he's still making them. It's kinda like a dog whining at the door or something.he's curled up in a bubble, but that's how he usually sleeps.
Now he's awake, and he's still making those sounds. Is he ok, or is there a problem?
Thanks :)
Take him to the vet... and have him check it out. It could be a disease or something. If it still make that sound later. Then call the vet again.
As dumb as it sounds he may just have a cold and is trying to breathe out of a clogged trunk and it is whistling.
If thats not the case I recommend taking it to a vet.
Answers: I have have rats b-4 that made whining noises when they were sick, but I am not sure give or take a few hamsters. He may be having a hard time breathing. Check his nose, ears, and eyes for discharge. I enjoy a Chinese Dwarf Hamster, and she frequently gets scabs on her back, and balds in that nouns. I think that it is because she scratches herself on her cage appurtenances. You may make sure there is zilch too sharp in his cage, and keep an eye on his breathing. If he keeps getting scabs, what help mine is putting a little tiny bit of dog mange cream directly on the scab. You can also look at http://www.hamsterific.com/IllnessGuide.
Take him to the vet
