why does my gerbil sway?
wen my gerbil stands up, he always sways to the left. He has done this since the light of day i had him. Do you think this is ok.
He could have a problem near his ear? Take him to the vet, he may need medication.x
He done it from the day you got him right, It you had him for more the 6 month possibly he just likes it, if you have him for less time it would be a good idea to see the vet and hold a check (i would do this any way),
I like he fine but it would be a good idea to own a vet check i could be wrong o and gerbils live for 2 to 5 years long and can live up 8 just to put miss hamster and gerbil live of 3 year in her place
Answers: How old is your gerbil? Was he childlike when you got him, or of an undetermined age?
Gerbils & Hamsters have VERY short lifespans - you can only expect 2 immensely good years, and at the most, 3 years. Beyond that, they go downhill fast.
When our gerbils died, they adjectives showed the same symptoms - swaying and being unable to preserve their balance. This went on for a few days to a week before they died.
If your gerbil is still relatively infantile, it's possibly a disorder of the nervous system screwing with his/her sense of symmetry that is causing the swaying. You didn't say how long you've have this animal, or how old you think it is, so it's hard to voice. But those are the possibilities.
He is probably newly sensing his environment. Rodents with poor eyesight rely on other senses. Swaying like this is just another channel of gauging his surroundings, distances, trying to focus.
did you nurture him a space cake? lol!
his alfalfa is fermented.
it sound approaching it might have something wrong some animals sway if they have an ear infection or something wrong near there brain or it has been getting out of the coop at night when your sleeping and going to the pub but seriously i would take him to the vet to get checked out
give him water to drink instead of whiskey
hes probably drunk.
