Why does my hamster enjoy a bump?
He keeps licking it and its a redish color. Any ideas?
Vet would be able to tell you what it be. From what you gave me I'm guessing he bumped something too hard or has an infection.
I agree, its time to go to the vets! It could be something simple to treat, but nothing you will be capable of do without a vet diagnosis.
Answers: Where abouts is the bump? If it is above one of his rear legs, it could be an infected or inflamed scent gland. Male hamsters enjoy two scent glands - one just above each hind leg. They can sometimes become infected and cause the hamster distress due to itching or soreness.
the best piece you can do is take your hamster to the vet because the more he licks at the area, the worse it will procure. It could be that antibiotics are the answer, or even a simple ointment.
