Would this pen be apt for a rat?

I have a cage in intellect to house a rat, but I'm not sure if it's big enough. I know the common rule is 2' x 2' per rat and for the time being I'll only be getting one for the time being. The coop I have in mind is 24" x 14" x 24". Would this be big plenty? Additionally, would you suggest powder coated wire or galvanized?

This is the contact to the site... model R-670.

Let me know of any other cage from that site that you would propose; I'm on a budget, though. :)
I actually think the first cooperation it to small. Rats like to run around. The second one is also small. There are a few links in the sources (below.)

Good Luck!
It looks okay, but closely of rat fanciers prefer the Midwest cages and Midwest just came out beside a new one: the critter nation (some people are calling it rat nation.) It's similar to the ferret nation, but has a 1/2 inch telecommunication spacing to keep the rats from escaping. There are two sizes and you can see them here: http://www.forhappydogs.com/p-147-critte... and http://www.forhappydogs.com/p-148-critte...

Answers:    That cage looks pretty good. You could get a bigger though. You might be capable of find a large cage like that on craigslist or the internet or the papers. As long as you steal them out really often so they get their exercise!

Are you getting two rats? You should def. get two a bit than one. Also you should cover the wire ramps because their tiny cute feet can attain stuck in them. I would get some fake grass or something and cover up.

Good Luck!
Eh, those are okay I guess. But the bars are not vastly good for their feet and I recommend a flat plastic bottomed cage.
If you're going to get hold of one of those atleast buy a cover for the bars.
That cage looks a little small, but it looks fine for for a moment while as long as you save money for a bigger cage because your rat will get slightly bigger unless you seize an adult. If your rat starts to chew the wires on the cage, I would powder them, but if your rat doesn't, there's no necessitate to powder the wires on the cage. Good luck with your rat!
yeah that seem pretty good
